This was situated close to the ex Midland Railway loco shed built to service locos used on the Midland's branch from Bedford to Northampton.

Note All Saints Church framed between the column and the hose.

connected to supply by flexible metallic tubing. From a 1907 catalogue issued by The United Flexible Metallic Tubing Co. Ltd., Ponders End, Middlesex. The firm made flexible metallic tubing!

Historic Charterhouse Square, near Smithfield, London, still has at least four gas lamps. Here are two of them.

Gaslamp is a bar on the western edge of downtown Des Moines. It used to be home to the best blues bar in the area. Now it's been cleaned up and given a new name. Not quite the same, but I like their signage. 2011YIP

Gaslamp still in use in the early 80s

From our apartment sublet in the Gaslamp District, San Diego. I liked the lines and the colors.

The historic Gaslamp quarter in downtown San Diego. The center of night life, started to revitalize the Spanish Old Town. The name refers to gas lamps which were ubiquitous in San Diego by 1880s.

This is Malam Gardens, Poplar, East London. Built as a private housing estate for a gas company in 1935-36 it remains gas-lit to this day. There are five lamps to three different designs.

There are few gas lights anywhere nowaday. Some survive in posh streets in places like St James's in central London. There is a very grand Georgian Crescent in Blackheath that is gas lit too - but is this the last 'ordinary' street in London to retain gas lighting?

San Diego’s lively district that comprises a rich array of restored Victorian-era buildings that are now restaurants, boutique hotels and entertainment venues. The entire quarter is listed on the National Register of Historic Buildings.
