This is the entrance to the "Historic Heart of San Diego", the Gaslamp Quarter, at the the intersection of 5th Avenue, L Street, and Harbor Drive.
There's a little green electric scooter resting by the lamppost on the left. There were 100's of these scattered all over town and lots of people using them. They were pretty speedy too. After a few stories of recent injuries I decided that although walking was slower...at least I would get to my destinations intact!

Such a familiar sight, a grey cold winter's afternoon on a day it never quite got light and Birmingham City are playing at home, a gas lamp fizzes into life but the floodlights are too expensive to switch on!. As the afternoon progresses a fleet of Birmingham City Transport buses begin to congregate in St Andrews Street West to take the disappointed/jubilant fans home.
Leading the convoy is HOV 665, a Brush H54R bodied Leyland PD2/11 dating from 1948, the bus may have been out in fog as the nearside headlamp has been twisted to face the kerb. Photo November 1964
