Great day for a photo shoot. Minus 12 degrees C but nary a breeze so I spent an enjoyable morning by the river, which is still iced over.

The gas-pipe from the coke ovens to the steel bloom reheating plant on Workington Iron and Steel Works, about 1979.

The footpath was known as 'The Black Path' and was one of several 'black paths' in Workington. This one led from Harrington shore to Berry Street, on the Marsh.

Coke-ovens and works sidings on the LHS; main line on RHS. On the extreme right are the last buildings extant of Solway pit. In the distance can be seen the twin gasholders on Stanley Street and 'The Basses' on Havelock Road; the former Havelock Road iron foundry used latterly by NORWEB and partly by DEC as a store.
