I live in Gowrie Street but put my bin out in Gowrie Lane (at the back of my house) on Monday evenings. On Tuesday mornings the (empty) bins are neatly lined up on each side of the lane. I usually bring mine in on Tuesday morning so it doesn't go walkabout during the week or get filled with other peoples' rubbish. I have just allocated 'bin duty' to my 20 year old son. He assures me that there is no need to fret about the possibility that he'll forget as he's set a reminder on his mobile. Now I can rest easy...

One thing that is very obvious in the streets of New York, both visually and by the odor, is the garbage. I learned from a co-worker that they pile the garbage on the streets because there aren't any Allies in Manhattan.
I discovered that Mercedes-Benz makes industrial vehicles at this point in my stay. I thought the truck was hilarious, considering my typical exposure to Mercedes-Benz drivers.
Garbage can at the mountain inn Schliersbergalm on mountain Schliersberg above lake Schliersee and Schliersee, Miesbach district, Bayern (Bavaria), Germany.
Schliersee is a town and municipality in the Bavarian Prealps, situated at the northern shore of and named after the lake of the same name.
Munich visit November 2016.
Apparently also collecting, sorting and selling garbage can be turned into business as demonstrated by driver of this car who has ensured that with heavy loading maximum official loading capacity of he's car does not limit growth of he's business :-)

As you can plainly see, this is a very big pile of garbage between the two buildings of the motel. This is not only furniture and appliances, but also bags of people's trash removed from the trash cans and thrown into the pile. This trash often contained used syringes from drug users living in the motel. This would remain here for often up to a week, be cleared out, and then slowly accumulate into another mountain of trash. Animals would tear open the trash bags and scatter the trash. At one time, this used to be the area where children played. In the room where the door with a hole in it is, there was a man living there with his two toddlers ages 3 and 4 and a newborn baby that grew to the age of 1 1/2 by the time they moved out.
