A typical scene in Low Gap Creek, a tributary of the Eel River in Leggett, CA. This is one of the best places to hike if you want pictures of fallen logs; clear, limpid pools; and liverwort and ferns.
The snow had mostly ended by the time we finished our three-mile loop trail, but the damage had been done. The mud road that led to Panorama Point was fine, but we'd taken a cut-through called Mountain Base Road from the area around the park visitor center to get here, and that road had a 19% grade. The park had closed that road by the time we came back, so we had to leave the park along a back entrance.
