Taddiford Gap, on the Hampshire Coast about two miles west of Milford-on-Sea, looking towards the Needles, at the western tip of the Isle of Wight. June 21, 2025.
Taddiford Gap is an 'unofficial' nudist beach, supposedly popular with the gay community, particularly towards the western end, furthest from Milford. As a teenager back in the 1970s, I used to visit this location regularly, searching for fossils, but until this visit, I had never actually swum there.
The beach is mostly shingle, but there is sand at low tide. The attraction - apart from it being 'clothing optional' - is that it's relatively unknown, and therefore quiet. There were probably no more than a couple of dozen people there, some wearing swimwear, some not.

"Mind the gap" is an audible or visual warning phrase issued to rail passengers in the UK (and elsewhere) to take caution while crossing the horizontal, and in some cases vertical, spatial gap between the train door and the station platform.
The phrase was first introduced in 1969 on the London Underground in the United Kingdom. The phrase is also associated with souvenir T-shirts that Transport for London sells, featuring the warning printed over the network's roundel logo.
Because some platforms on the London Underground are curved and the rolling stock that uses them are straight, an unsafe gap is created when a train stops at a curved platform. In the absence of a device to fill the gap, some form of visual and auditory warning is needed to advise passengers of the risk of being caught unaware and sustaining injury by stepping into the gap. The phrase "Mind the gap" was chosen for this purpose and can be found painted along the edges of curved platforms as well as heard on recorded announcements played when a train arrives at many Underground stations.
While the message is often played on some lines over the platform's public address system, it is also becoming more common as an arrival message inside the train itself: "Please mind the gap between the train and the platform."

Snow in the mountains around Walasiyi Inn, at Neel's Gap,
3,108 feet above sea level. This route over Georgia's Blue
Ridge is often blanketed in white in winter, and southerners
come from as far as Florida to play in the snow. The pictur-
esque inn, built of native stone, overlooks magnificent Blood
Mountain Gorge, and lies only three miles from the recre-
ation center at Vogel State Park. Neel's Gap is 18 miles
north of Cleveland, Georgia.
I see this a lot. What's with the big gap? This isn't the biggest gap I've seen by the way - I saw a guy a few weeks ago who left about three car lengths between his car and the car in front. Asses like this have delayed me sufficiently to prevent me getting through the light when it turns green.
The GAP seems to be a relatively recent and increasingly common phenomenon.
If you can explain it to me, I'm all ears.
