Me playing me.
I don't ever play video games anymore, hence the reason why I still have a PS2. I tried to light this scene so it emulated the light that comes in from the windows during the day.

Falling asleep in the plush, over-sized armchair after hours and hours of grueling battle at Black Ops the incubus enters his subconscious. At first, the boy thinks he is in a dream like state but quickly realizes the video game fantasy laid out before him is more of a nightmare. He has just beaten his top score when things become dark and horrific. The ecstasy he felt from reaching the zenith of the game and turning it off is overshadowed by the unbelievable danger in front of him. After turning off the game console, the controller somehow unplugged itself and took on a life of its own, revealing properties of animism. The game controller now resembled more of a gigantic, black snake than a video game apparatus. The plug of the controller had red slits for eyes and a red slithering serpent 's tongue coming from its mouth. The boy was almost comatose from shock until the controller or should we say hideous constrictor lunged and struck at the boy. He darted backwards just in time to miss the serpents foul lash. The constrictor that was a controller coils part of its body, preparing itself for a massive strike. The boy is frightened, void of any of the heroic qualities of the characters in the video games he plays. If only he were a Duke Nukemm, Red Dead Revolver, or Ninja Gaiden he could shoot and slash the serpent back to the cavernous confines of the dark ages. Lacking any video game character strength, he does the only thing he can do, dodge and duck the striking snake. Then the mouth of the controller opens and the fangs of the serpent rear themselves open full hinge and its timing a move and its proceeding in its aggressive attack and then as the boy starts to dive for an escape a pair of soft hands shake the shoulders of the boy and wake him to crawl into bed for the night.

PC, XBOX, or PS3? Everytime a new major game release comes out, that's the question I found myself asking.. Evaluating which friends are most likely to play it with me and what machine they'll be playing it onw.
Ironically enough my inspiration for this image came to me while listening to Save Your Soul by She Wants Revenge (just love the melody/instruments). As I was listening to the song, I remembered how much I liked their album cover. Not sure if it was the one for this song, but they have multiple covers with girls holding a knife behind their back. I liked it, long before I ever even starting shooting photos myself, specifically because of how well the lighting was shot in it, combined with striking content.
That got me thinking that I think I could do striking images with kitchen knives myself. Wouldn't be too hard to get some simple ones. Then I thought about how people might start wondering about me though if I suddenly had dark images about knives/killing in my photostream =P. I'm not a psychopath (although I still will probably do a few of those soon). So my next thought was, jokingly, my weapons are game controllers, not knives or guns. Well then it hit me. This image. And I was suprised that doing a quick google and stock image search, I couldn't find anything that close to it. There were a few that were close that had 8bit drawn controllers, but nothing high-res quite like this..
And that's how this came to be :).
