Fomapan200, developed in Rodinal, 1:50. 20C.

The new Hasbro Marvel Legends Gambit. A totally awesome figure!

CEC designed the YT-2200 with maximum hauling capacity in mind. Unlike the last few models in the YT series, the 2200 was utilitarian and built with one purpose. The entire front half of the interior was dedicated to cargo storage, and the mandibles for freight pushing used on classes such as the YT-1300 were brought back into use.

The YT-2200 was also given several new improvements over past models, such as a larger thruster bank that gave more power for the same fuel efficiency, and a cockpit design that would later be used on the YT-2400. It also featured a front docking ring between the mandibles for connecting to freight containers.

All of this came at the cost of spartan accomodations and a sturdy design that was harder to modify and adapt. In spite of that, the ship was popular with corporations because of its high cargo capacity.

In 34 BBY, one YT-2200 fell into the hands of a freelance Corellian starpilot, Jax Farlay, who got the almost-new ship for a great deal. He met and fell in love with Rooke Dannelow during an early job in the Outer Rim, and Jax named his vessel the Rooke's Gambit in her honor.

Rooke later joined him as a crewmember. They married and had a daughter, Reina. Life went well for the next several years, and Jax made a decent life for himself and his family as a pilot.

Unfortunately, things took a turn for the worse later. Rooke Farlay died during a pirate ambush that the Gambit barely made it out of. Later, after the Empire rose to power, new trade regulations made Jax's career too unprofitable. Jax Farlay was forced to retire from his shipping career.

Reina Farlay, now in her teens, inherited the Rooke's Gambit. Against her father's advice, the free-spirited young woman immediately took to smuggling, seeing it as a way to fight back against the Empire that destroyed her father's career.

Reina became a good pilot and an excellent mechanic, having already spent almost her entire life on the vessel, and learning its ins and outs over the next twenty years. Almost every repair and modification was done by her hand, a rare thing for a freighter and one which eventually gave the Rooke's Gambit its reputation as a top notch ship.

Reina later took on several crewmembers, including a sharp-flying Duros as a copilot, a trigger-happy Trandoshan and Socorran as gunners, and a R3 astromech that handled everything from astrogation to repairs to even flying.

It wasn't long before Captain Farlay and the Gambit had gained a reputation for their skill in evading Imperial patrols and pirates alike.

FOURTH WALL:

I built this for the Freighter Wars contest on LEGO Rebrick. (Here's a link: www.lego.com/en-us/rebrick/view-entry?c_id={D9DDC962-F589-417F-AE7A-3F6807969D67}&a_id=d8df85f8-3e8a-44f2-b05c-d98f324ed846&sortEntry=false )

The deadline made this an interesting project, since it pushed me to always keep moving and making progress. While it's very unpolished, it did help me get it done in record time. I've definitely never gotten something built this efficiently, especially not of decent quality, so this has been a good lesson.

It's still in need of serious work. It's all attached, but has literally no structural integrity. If it was built with physical bricks, it'd instantly crumble into thousands of tiny chunks.

And aside from that, the underside is bland and detailless, and although I had planned to build an interior, that never got into the final model either.

So there's lots to be done, and although I plan on doing it, my current computer can barely handle this 8,200-piece monstrosity already, and adding a few thousand more is impossible right now.

Still, I'm incredibly happy with the end result. I've always loved Star Wars' "smuggler freighter" trope and wanted to build one, and between the Rebrick contest and SHIPtember I had a good excuse to finally do it.

The ship took inspiration from quite a few existing vessels. I've always loved the XS freighter from SWTOR, and it became my main inspiration for the basic profile. I found some well-timed concept art showing the YT-1300 pushing freight containers (which I notice several other people also did, like O0ger's beautiful Nadir). Add in the YT-2400's cockpit design, the 2000's engines, the 1210's antenna, and a paintscheme inspired by the Ebon Hawk, and the Gambit was born.

Lastly, my friends deserve a ton of thanks for their advice and critiquing. Two in particular helped with the lore and rendering very last minute images when I was getting really desperate.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy! It's been really exciting building my ship and seeing all these superb freighters pop up.

My favorite MARVEL couple is X-MEN's Rogue & Gambit. The little girl in me is totally geeking out over being able to create this photo. A childhood dream has come to fruition! #relationshipgoals

A lovely Pup called Gambit on a visit from Southport that we met a couple of months ago on Llanfairfechan beach!

Also in new calendar www.redbubble.com/mybubble/calendars/6086860-6-more-dogs-...

Well, almost...

Check out my website to see more details!

These particular characters were part of the reason why I am a huge fan of the X-men and the art of Jim Lee. These figures are unfortunately not in scale with each other. The Gambit figure is from the Marvel Select Line while Psylocke is from the Marvel Legends line

One of Roxy's favorite things...teasing JJ until he drops his tennis ball, then she steals it, he chases her and then she is happy. She can still outrun and outmaneuver him.... it's all in good fun.

Lady Nicole offers something vulnerable, but is actually setting a trap. She doesn't need to even look at the board. The outcome has already been decided — your move.

I've also heard her referred to as "Ma'ambit." When I saw her, I went, "Wow! Nice genderbend cosplay and very sexy!"

Cosplayer: Marie Grey

UPDATE: "Ma'ambit" is featured in the Compendium of Cool Comics Cosplay - October 19 (2012)!!! Yay!!!! Marie, you deserve the recognition!

This is his default costume in the game. I will be doing a "shirtless" Gambit soon also ^_~

*sighs* I love my job!

New York Comic Con 2019

During Covid years, perhaps I quarantined too long, or maybe not long enough.

Either way I have to keep busy with my photography or I'll get the eebiie jeebies!

So I challenged Ranger to a chess match. Having previously taught him some games of chance he kept his poker face on.

I had to make my moves cautiously as he would give a low growl and bare his teeth a bit if he didn't like them.

I would remind him that he is supposedly my best friend and, that was no way to treat me.

Game ended in a draw since it was dinner time, and I don't like it when he gets hangry!

Oh the things I get asked to photograph...

LEGO Marvel Collection - Gambit, X-Men (Onlinesailin, PhoenixCustomBricks)

Let's see what we've got here...

As requested by Æ5.

Fun Fact: Gambit also comes from my MCoC roster.

The tousled hair works the best for Gambit in dark brown.

In order to get the balaclava, use the Stormtrooper head. Try and find one with a darker flesh tone.

Use the Cad Bane torso for Gambit's trenchcoat. The details are not perfect but it is the best option I could find.

These Alien Conquest legs work well because they are black with pink armor. Use black hips instead of the printed ones.

For accessories, use a light grey staff and the Ace of Spades card from the CMF Jester.

i have often wondered where did the other bounty hunters in empire go ? maybe they had a last man standing arena battle, just like this...

''The Queen’s Gambit''

Friend or Foe Ginger Gilroy

I actually convinced her to only pack one hoodie this year. Minor victory. Our first stop at the convention was the hoodie booth! But maybe this year we won't have to buy new luggage in California just for all the extra shirts and hoodies.=)
