The galley: a good cook is a happy crew, and the Algoway has a happy crew

A Leyland Leopard PSU3C/4R with Duple "Dominant" body new to Tyne & Wear PTE in July 1975. I haven't got the print anymore, but the date was Wednesday 27th June 1979 and I think the location is somewhere on the periphery of Marlborough Crescent Bus Station, Newcastle.

My mind's gone blank about Armstrong Galley, but I remember the name. Presumably they were a local independent whose name was retained after a sell-out to the PTE.

With curtain and flight attendant seats attached.

A galley (kitchen) aboard an early 20th century Canadian train.

Captured at the train museum in Squamish.

Frederick and Florence Coultas stand outside the main entrance to the Galley Hills public house at some point between 1940 and 1950. Original picture courtesy of their Grandson Peter Coultas. The wartime white paint which would have helped the visitors find the pub door in blackout conditions was still on the wall today. The original photograph had the following written on the back: "Please excuse the broken window".

The pub is now a rather lovely Cafe and is well worth a visit.

A golden galley from the Maritime Museum in Barcelona.

A pretty experimental shot at very high ISO to catch the stars in the sky and the lighthouse beams in one shot. I'm not that happy with it, but it's the first time I have tried it...Focusing is a problem.

The coaching division of the Tyne and Wear PTE retained its name of Armstrong Galley (an exisiting company that was absorbed by the PTE) and they favoured the AEC Reliance with Duple bodies. An example is seen here close to the high level bridge in Newcastle in July 1980.

Brand new LED light fixture. Under cabinet light is simply a rope light.
