ODC-Can't Do Without This

I love my gadgets. I have a lot of different ones which makes my adventures in cooking a whole lot easier.

For 118 pictures in 2018, #61, "gadget/contraption", this is used for pulverizing garlic (the clove gets crushed and forced through the small holes). I prefer just to chop it very finely with a knife, but I'm probably in the minority on this important issue.

Inspector Gadget, built as part of my “Saturday Morning BrickHeadz” display at Bricks By The Bay this weekend.

Alphabet Challenge 'gadget' theme. 7/52

Just a gadget from my photo bag.

For the 78th anniversary of its detonation, a photo of a scale model of the "Gadget" in the National Museum of Nuclear Science and History in Albuquerque. It was fired at the "Trinity Site" in the Jornada del Muerto desert about 35 miles (56 km) southeast of Socorro, New Mexico.

Brigadier General Thomas F. Farrell was bewildered by how “the whole country was lighted by a searing light with the intensity many times that of the midday sun. It was golden, purple, violet, gray and blue. It lighted every peak, crevasse and ridge of the nearby mountain range with a clarity and beauty that cannot be described but must be seen to be imagined. It was that beauty the great poets dream about but describe most poorly and inadequately.”

After being closed to the public for many years, the Trinity Site was declared a National Historic Landmark district in 1965 and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1966. It is now open to visitors on the first Saturdays of April and October.

I built this MOC for the actual contest on www.RogueBricks.de "Bricking: Impossible" where we have to build something with agents.

First I thought to build something from 007 as a LEGO version like "From Billund With Love", "Live And Let Brick" or "You Only Brick Twice" :D

But then I remembered Inspector Gadget, one of my favorite heroes as a kid. So I built him - or let me say - his head, including some of his Go-Go-Gadget-O-Arms.

I know he is not perfect - it is my second figure I built like that - but I hope you like it as I do.

Week 7 - 2022 Alphabet Challenge - Gadget

A single shot. Really wanted to do a focus stack in Photoshop but the result was absolutely terrible. Will try again!

our lives have changed tremendously with these gadgets. has it become easier or more complicated?

Reproduction of Trinity Test "Gadget" detonation tower near 1962 F-105D Thunderchief jet, a model nicknamed "Thud" by Vietnam War-era crews.

Location: National Museum of Nuclear Science & History; Albuquerque, New Mexico; June 21, 2024, 8:12pm

Per Wikipedia, the jet's nickname "Thud" came from the character "Chief Thunderthud" from the Howdy Doody television series (a helaciously dated native american caricature played by a white guy with a pencil 'stache). This supersonic fighter-bomber was said in its era to be a "Triple Threat" – it could bomb you, strafe you, or fall on you.

The Trinity Test detonation tower reproduction was constructed at the Museum in 2017 as dramatic housing for a reproduction of the "Gadget" test bomb exploded at the Trinity Test Site near Alamogordo, New Mexico on July 16, 1945 – so-called at the time ("gadget") to avoid words like "atomic" or "bomb" for security reasons.

I AM so thankful for my many gadgets, and these sure were not around when my Mom & Dad were young! The idea of having a personal GPS device - seemed impossible back then! My phone will do that for me, as well, but I like the Garmin because it is GPS dedicated. I would not go ANYWHERE without some sort of location assistance.

I am so thankful for the versatility of modern cell phones, that I can actually check in with Flickr, and see all that is happening, as well as actually make a call! The "Share Your Location" feature has been such a wonderful thing, too.

As many have pointed out, too, I am SO thankful for the community of Flickr- made possible by MANY gadgets that were not around when my parents were young! All the gadgets our gadgets are hooked up to! :)

And yes, my phone case is pretty grubby and also speckled with artist's paint!

Taken for the Jules' Photo Challenge Group:

This month is just a short challenge meant to make us think a little and keep us shooting!

What I want to see from you are three things in your life that you are thankful for that were not around when your parents were young. NO pets, family, friends . . .

nothing living.

WOODSTOCK GUITARS, The Temple of the Guitar + Concert Hall

Guitars by the hundreds, more gleaming than each other, hung on all the walls of the store. There is the Fender corner on the ground floor, but also the Gibson or Gretsch district, upstairs. Here a beginner’s area, for aspiring rockers. Here is a corner more exclusive with the products of the custom shop (guitars made to measure or almost, or customized). If electric is the lion’s share, fans of classical guitar or folk guitars are not forgotten.

Macromondays: Theme is Hobbies

I adore gadgets. Often this results in me buying things that never get used past the first day (as with this trackball (kinda like a mouse but you move the ball not the mouse)).

Every once in a while though a purchase goes well (Xbox, Iphone, D90)....
