While I was getting through the flurry of holiday sewing orders, I would occasionally pat my machine (which needs a real name) and tell it, "If you're good until I finish these next few orders, I'm going to completely take you apart and clean you.
I didn't dismantle the motor or anything, but I did bust out the screwdriver and remove every bit of machine shell that I could. I clean it regularly, but not always this thoroughly (about twice a year) and I haven't done it since July and I've done much more sewing the last half of the year than the first half of the year. It was awful. Those black specs on the table are just what was behind when I scooped up a huge handful of cotton and wool fuzz. Once I got it back together, it practically purred in appreciation.
A Fuzz Face variant made with a pair of AC128 germanium PNP transistors that I pulled from an old record player. This was built in 1996, when I was 18, after a friend and I built a Fuzz Face on a breadboard. We tweaked it to get more mids and volume. This is the result.
The best part is, I took this photo without my contacts in with a manual focus lens :cD
Sheer luck I guess.

Big Fuzz in the newest member to our little family… and he sure fits in well! This cat sleeps in the weirdest positions – such as the face plant above. He’s pretty crazy in general and a huge attention whore. The funny thing is, he is the exact same color as our cat Sweets… just much fuzzier. I believe he is a ragdoll Siamese.
