Today's photo makes use of my stars technique I shared yesterday. Although I haven't posted anything new in a while I have been doing a bit of editing. One of the things I've particularly been focusing on lately are the highlights in my photos. I'm not a fan of the sharp transitions from midtones to highlights so I've been working on some techniques to help smooth those out. If you pay close attention to the water I think you'll see see how I gradated this out to get a smoother look. It's subtle, but every little improvement counts. Finally, in case you missed it yesterday, you can see how to make the stars pop in your photos at www.thetimethespace.com/making-stars-pop/

The premier of the Tron Legacy movie is this week! This makes the 21st Monorail Monday shot the fourth and final of the Tronorail series.

This shot, of the allusive yellow side of the Tronorail, was taken from the Tram-way on the walk back to my car.

Thanks for looking. I appreciate feedback!

I had the Simpsons Monorail song in my head this morning, so figured it made sense to post a photo of one!

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

On September 25, 2011, I had the privilege to watch two displays of the United States Air Force Honor Guard Drill Team with Spaceship Earth as a backdrop. This is the first of a few images that I'm going to put up over the coming weeks. Katie Marino joined me to watch the second display and I'm excited to see what she captured.

These Airmen displayed incredible concentration, precision and professionalism with every precise move. After the last display, one member of the team asked me if I could take photos of the entire team lined up. What an honor. I'm looking forward to sharing these images with them.

A newly married couple honeymooned at Walt Disney World.

Back in October of 1983, EPCOT Center was just completing its first year of operation and everything still seemed brand new. Horizons had just opened the day before and Walter Cronkite was hosting the Time Machines through Spaceship Earth. You made World Showcase dining reservations at a WorldKey kiosk talking and seeing a reservationists on a TV screen. Figment and Dreamfinder sang their way into our hearts and we marveled at the huge screen showing a space shuttle launch in the World of Motion. It was the future world that could be…and was in 1983.

On Monday, October 1st, 2012 while Epcot celebrates 30 years, my wife and I will be starting our 30th year together riding the first ride we rode together at Walt Disney World…Spaceship Earth.

See you all next week!

...from the Odyssey Bridge. Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Explore #123 on October 13, 2009!

About the only thing more odd than seeing the giant Swan & Dolphin behind World Showcase is seeing a large geosphere across the lagoon. Fortunately, in the latter instance, the sight is one of pure beauty, rather than an eyesore (as is the former).

Thanks for the comments and favorites, everyone! This picture made it to #80 in Explore for September 15th, 2008!

Spaceship Earth in Epcot's Future World just after sunset at Walt Disney World, Orlando, Florida on Friday, March 6, 2020.

I share on my All Ears blog how I went from a flat looking photo of Spaceship Earth to this dramatic look using graduated filter tools in Lightroom.

EPCOT Future World

This shot was taken during the same sunset but a few minutes before the Imagination shot I posted yesterday. I decided to also use Photomatix Exposure Fusion on this one for a slightly different processing approach. I got pretty lucky with the framing of this fisheye shot and the curvature of the fountain blasts (no cropping or straightening here).

Thanks for looking!

The 45th Monorail Monday image is of Monorail Orange making its way around Future World at EPCOT Center. I captured this shot from my favorite spot on grassy knoll near the Universe of Energy.

I'm not sure how I feel about the lens flares. I tried cloning them out then decided that they added a little bit of drama to the shot. I'm interested to know what you all think.

Just some more compulsive monorail shooting.. liking how this one turned out after a bit of editing to fix the dark shadows since the sun was behind.

no you can't see this kind of sky over Epcot...wait, let me rephrase that...you can't see that kind of sky NOW but if epcot was built in 1970..then maybe you could get a shot like this all at once..but unless all of orlando/kissimee and the walt disney world resort itself lost power..then a shot like this could really happen. of course..if such a power outage that major happened you wouldn't be at Epcot..

No folks, this is really Epcot under a peruvian night sky..one of many i've tried to capture down in the cusco/machu picchu region last May. Although it's not real, It does make for a pretty fitting shot.

This is another from the "I edited these when I knew nothing about Photoshop" series. I decided to crop the shot a bit, change some colors, contrast, sharpness, and I'm MUCH happier with it. Can't wait to see this in 10 days! Thanks for lookin', and have a great day!

This shot made it to Explore! Thanks guys!

I want to be there right now :) I was surprised when I came across this shot last week and realized I had not posted it yet, especially since it was one of my favorite photos that I took on that trip!

Have a great day!

I always say to "just look up" when photo walking around the parks. In this case, looking down yielded a view of abstract and shadow details on the carpet of a walk way.

I have surprisingly few SSE pictures. Which is a mystery to me considering that I'm a science geek who loves this structure.

I took this with a desktop background in mind. But I've decided to post because I think I need some SSE in my photostream. It was capture whilst waiting on my gran who was in the Art of Disney at the time by just zooming in on the detail to lose all profile.

Someone (please) correct me if I'm wrong, but this is the original signage for the Coral Reef. I love seeing those remnants of EPCOT Center and thus feel compelled to photograph them!

Week 39 - The Imagination Pavilion at EPCOT.

This is one set of the jumping water areas intended for kids to play in. Of course, when I shot this it was in the low 70's and breezy, so no one was there.

This is a low-angle shot in which the camera was put on the ground about a foot from that closest leaf.

Details really make this picture. Notice those wonderful misters (not going) in the background! Also, Monorail Gold is just passing by on the left of the shot. Finally, you can see the very top of the Imagination Pavilion's glass pyramids in front of the monorail.

Like the last picture I posted, the colors were dull. The day I took this the weather was very dreary - cloudy, dark, and windy. I spruced it up a little by adding more saturation. I also increased the temperature to give it a tiny red tint.

What do you think, guys?

Spaceship Earth's Rainbow Connection presentation of the Beacons of Magic light show during the 2022 International Festival of the Arts at Epcot in Walt Disney World, Orlando, Florida on Friday, February 4, 2022.

Another Topaz Labs Photo AI processed photo. It really cleaned up the noise in the sky and in the colors being projected onto Spaceship Earth. Back in Lightroom Classic, I opened up the people using a linear gradient mask at the bottom of the frame. For the most part, people were stationary during the exposure.

An abstract study of Spaceship Earth geometry. This is the last of SSE shots for a while.

Presenting the 52nd Monorail Monday - Volume 6 shot! This completes six years of posting monorails on Mondays. It's been fun and it's so cool to know that I inspired so many other photographers to do the same thing. I was debating whether to go for year seven since the Flickr Disney community isn't what it once was. But I'll give it a go because, after all, seven is supposedly a lucky number.

As for this shot, I'm real proud of it. It may look like I did a painterly effect in post but if you look closely, there are rocks in the sky. The shot is actually a reflection captured near The Seas pavilion. I inverted the image so that everything was right side up. I liked the result.

Does anyone still spell it in caps lock?

I have shot many sunsets at Walt Disney World but every occasionally you will get on that is extra special. This was one of those occasions. The 2 days preceding the arrival of Hurricane Matthew were some of the most awesome sunsets I have witnessed at Walt Disney World. Each evening the sky came alive in a way I as a photographer often imagine but rarely see. It did not last very long but just long enough for me to get in place for an iconic Epcot shot. I opted for the Nikon 35 1.4 for a tighter field of view.

Taken during our June 2016 trip. Thanks for looking!

I've always been a fan of the amazing way that light bounces off the mirrored surface of the front of the Universe of Energy Pavilion at Epcot. On this beautiful sunny day, the solar cells found on the roof should have been able to power countless guests through their Journey with Ellen and Bill Nye.

I do wish I had leaned back about 1 more degree when I shot this to get the entire sign tower into the frame.

I was going through my files and came across this shot taken at the Imagination Pavilion in Epcot. It was one of those summer days with a lot of cloud formations, which are reflected in one of the pyramids.

I am not the first nor will I be the last person to take this shot. It's popular for a reason! Still, I couldn't pass up the opportunity taking pictures like crazy at the gates of EPCOT on this particular night when I was on of the last to leave!

A few days ago, on my way to meet up with a bunch of good friends for dinner, a fantastic sunset erupted over EPCOT. This week will be full of shots from that sunset, starting off with this classic monorail near the old World of Motion building!

A visit to Epcot.

Epcot, a theme park at the Walt Disney World Resort, consists of two sections—Future World and World Showcase which are patterned after the types of exhibits found at world expositions and in its early years, it was often called a "permanent World's Fair."

The background pavilions in this shot are the glass pyramids of Imagination! on the left and the top of The Land on the right. Epcot has many beautiful flowers, lakes, and trees and a fascinating Monorail and I'm glad to have found a way to include them in this capture. Below is a capture of the iconic and symbolic structure of Epcot, Spaceship Earth and a sunset capture of Future World.

I haven't made it out to see this year's F&G Festival. Hopefully I'll make it out there soon because it's one of my favorite times of year at Epcot.
