Feels a bit illicit taking shots like this. The camera was on my lap and I just clicked. The woman on the left had twiged me hence the rapid look away!
1/6 sec, so rather blurry. I would have ditched the shot bar the amusing headline on the grumpy reader's newspaper. Converting to black and white and blasting the highlights in Lightroom 2 covers a multitude of sins.
I have been cropping shots from the G9 from their native 4:3 ratio to move conventional (3:2 or 1:1) shapes but think I should stop that from now on!
We partnered with Mobile Future to host the TechCocktail & Mobile Future SXSW Lunch, where we brought together leaders from across the country working in the wireless space.

A monarch caterpillar, about an inch long, on a swamp milkweed plant in our butterfly garden. The once-plentiful monarch butterfly is in serious trouble, in part because milkweed (the only thing monarch caterpillars can eat) has largely been eliminated from the American landscape. The blueberry bushes are budding. The ice did a number on our blueberry nets this winter. Been helping dad get the new net over the frames...a bit tough in the wind!

70s Future ( Kodak 200 ).
This in a abandoned school house not far from my place. Obviously this is futuristic architecture from the 70s. I'm born in '71. The optimistic somewhat sci-fi-ish look we had in the future seems to be gone, eventually. The "bright future" got a bit rusty ... another more funny thing: I really, really grew up with that orange color. Everything was orange in the 70s, the TV, the walls of my room, anything. For me the 70s and part of my childhood really mean "orange" for a big part ...
I've always had a thing for oak trees (especially white bur oaks) and acorns. Not sure why. They've always been a part of my life here in Illinois. I think maybe that's why.
(2 Sep. 10 - NOTE: I originally thought these were white oak acorns, but have discovered that they are bur oak acorns. White oak acorns's caps don't have the frilly edges.)

for some reason, i started thinking about the future. the future has always been something i think about a lot. but also something i’m extremely terrified of. the prospect of finding a job with my career path is so intimidating. i know the chances are slim and it scares the shit out of me.
i realize that i need to step it up. i’m not confident in the work i produce and i feel like i should be. i need to start being creative and thinking of cool things/ways to shoot, but i can’t. i’m not inspired. the ideas i come up with never seem to come out as i imagine when i try to bring them to life. i want to be better. i NEED to be better. i’m not going to say that i’m gunna make a full 360 and make some banging ass amazingly awesome photos now. i can’t promise anything. but i can try.
