He got his passport in the mail in an envelope addressed to him. Oh, the joy of getting mail before they are all bills...

The media consumption experience is poised to transform, and fast. Technologies that have been tinkered with for years, ranging from virtual and augmented reality to sensors and robotics, are finally on the tipping point of mass commercialization. As the physical and digital worlds converge, how will these technologies shape how people interact with digital media?

On November 18, 2014, NYC Media Lab and Razorfish hosted the second occasion of Future Interfaces, an evening "science fair" on the future of human-computer interaction and digital media. More than 300 guests came to go hands-on with 30 demos from startups and universities to see what's on the verge of commercialization, what’s still in the lab, and what advances will change the nature of media and communications in the future.

A few months ago, EventQuest, a New York based events company, asked me to photograph the interior design setups they were doing for an Abu Dhabi event in January. I didn’t know much about the event, but as the date got closer I realized that it was the Masdar Future Energy Awards, which is a yearly event that gives out awards of up to 1.5 million US$ to companies that come up with innovative ways of saving energy. It’s a very high profile gathering that takes place at the Emirates Palace, draws participants from tens of countries and this year it even had the president of Iceland attending the festivities. I did actually get to photograph the president of Iceland, but more on that on a later post.

The setup was quite cool and although I don’t usualy post these kind of shots on the blog as they are better suited to the portfolio site, I thought I’ll share with you this photograph of what was called the “Energy hall”.

Intelligent transport systems and automated driving are fast moving towards widespread commercialization and market acceptance. High levels of automation – the penultimate step to fully automa ted driving – are expected on the road by 2020 and hold great promise to improve road safety, reduce congestion and emissions, and increase the accessibility of personal mobility to the elderly and persons with disabilities.

A friend Michelle, sent me a photo link that showed a shoe that had a bird nest in it - the shoe was mounted on a tree. These are my old work shoes from when I worked in the shipyard.

This architectural icon will have living as well office spaces along with multiple leisure and recreational avenues. It will have collective residential and commercial space of 4,000,000 sq ft and house 3000 to 3500 luxurious and futuristic dwellings. The Apartment City has been designed to give a sensorial experience like no other. Every apartment will either be facing 26 acres of spectacular lush greenery in the centre or vast open spaces that will have an instant calming effect.
