Future Tours

This photo is of my two sisters and Amy (because I needed a third person). I made this picture by having them lay against a wall with their feet up. I then turned the photo sideways, so it looks like they are sitting up straight. The two girls in the back look like they are having fun, while they are laughing and pointing at something (which is where the ‘tourism’ part of the name comes from). The girl in front, however, looks like she is bored (usually, at least one kid is bored at a time when on a family vacation). I asked her to look right at the camera, so there is more of a connection between her and the audience than between the people in the back.

I put in flowers to add a sense of abstract-ness. This is where the ‘future’ part of the title comes in. It looks like this picture defies gravity, especially with the flowers looking like they are sideways. This might be something to look forward to. Maybe someday we will be able take tours in space.

I took this photo right at sunset, on purpose, because this is when the light is warmest. There is lots of contrast between the warm colors of the sun and umbrella, and the cool colors of the blue shirt, the wall, and the flowers. I experimented a lot with different eye levels and contact, and in the end, I decided that this combination worked and looked the best.
