The Swedish Jazz superstar was entertaining not only the audience and also the musicians on the stage with her (Montrealers?) I do not think, that there is a musical instrument she can't play. She plays trumpet(s), trombone, recorder, bass, banjo, ukulele, harp, dances, tap dances, bagpipes! and of course sings. At one point she was playing 3 trumpets at the same time. Yes gimmicky, but really fun performance at Montreal Jazz Festival.

She is a dream for photographers. The hardest thing was to select a photo from the 200-300 snaps I took and also avoiding the body parts of the BIG local photographer in front of me.

This singer, born Wesley Louissaint, multi-instrumentalist, songwriter and dancer had his show tested not only in Canada, but on stages all over the world. Originally from Haiti, he chose Montreal as his home. His career now spans at least a dozen years. He plays this vuvuzela (called Vaksen in Creole), banjo, bass, but mostly sticks to guitar or bongos. Amazing dancer and charismatic performer with capable musicians around him.

Best act of the Southside Shuffle blues festival was for me 'Blue Moon Marquee'. Normally it is only duo, Jasmine and A.W. Cardinal, but they had an excellent keyboard player. Both write songs, both have great voices and are excellent musicians. Rather then being just another blues band, their music had depth and originality. The Albertans travel the world now for several years. Jass plays bass, but also simultaneously special constructed drum kit. Cardinal's raspy voice is very distinctive. Playing together for 10 years, there is nothing stale in their performance.

She so enjoyed running fast along the dark sandy beach, playing with the rolling waves and sniffing the tracks. Lover of the sea, she too.

A splash of colour in a wintry landscape, this vintage fire truck sits near Val Marie's heritage grain elevator, on Railway Ave. The Rokinon 8 mm fish-eye lens is a great tool when I want to shake up my normal, everyday perception of the world. Straight lines curve, curved lines bulge, distances are stretched, as are the spaces between objects. The truck, for example, is parked very close to the elevator. I think that by altering spacial relationships, this lens helps me free up my imagination. What fun!

and.... this photo reminds me of this song for some reason, and it would have to be played at the party.... great dancing music!! ;-)

so those who are familiar with my work know that i normally do things so artsy with a sense of hyperreality and (usually) with some sort of statement in mind (cause every picture tells a story... most of the time) all while aiming for the gorgeousness

this is totally lo-fi with no story and no real purpose except to (hopefully) incite a smile at the least if not outright laughter

uh-huh, i lookinatchu!

I know i know this is cliche but shooting on bulb mode is funfunfun!

Happy new year everyone!

This was originally posted two years ago - so some of you have seen it - I moved it to the front of the stream for Independence Day. Hope you enjoy! :-)

For those of you who are celebrating, please have a safe and happy holiday.

Snapped this with my Olympus MJU II. We were getting all dolled up for our agency Christmas card photoshoot with the Brownhorse from Garage Studios.

See some of Brownhorse's pictures from this shoot on his Garage Studios blog.

America's Favorite Game Show, The Price is Right, came to Foxwoods Casino for the past 3 months. The last show was last night. An awesome time was had by everyone. It was totally cool to see Plinko, watch people spin the Big Wheel, and see all of the other fun games. My name was not called to "Come on Down!" however the person I went with was. Unfortunately she was outbid and did not make it on stage :(

i haven't done a double exposure for a while but I'm really pleased with this one.

We had lots of fun in greenwich park - you can't beat running through autumn leaves :-)

We go to this wonderful travelling Circus every year, usually for Di’s birthday celebration. This years show, called the Summer of Love, is a 1960’s extravaganza of live music, psychedelic costumes and awesome acts. It was a great night! And they sang Happy Birthday too 😊

Only one day remaining in my vintage wilderness series. Those of you who have been following this journey will recall a pano view of Mount Assiniboine Provincial Park, from 1979. For various reasons, it was nine years before I attempted that trek again - and here was the outcome. I guess I left it too late in the season. Hiking in the previous day, with snow beginning to swirl around me, I convinced myself to keep going, that it would pass. The following morning, at beautiful Rock Lake, I awoke to... this.

I built a fire to dry my boots and other gear and get warm. Then along came two guys with rifles. Have I seen any mountain goats? they wanted to know. Nope. Uh-uh. No goats, I lied. In reality, I had spotted one fifteen hundred feet up that cliff in the background; no way was I going to encourage them. I did let them warm their hands over my fire, and was happy to see them trudge back down the trail from whence they came. Up until then I didn't know that hunting is permitted in some BC provincial parks. Presumably trophy hunting, an abomination in every sense of the term, a pastime pursued by the pathetically limited, the greedy, the thoughtless, and the moral cripples among us. Of which there are many.

Undaunted, I decided to hang in for a couple more days, alone from that point on. I did have a fine morning - the next day - when brilliant sunshine bathed the scene and sparkling snow surrounded the pristine and partly iced-over blue lake. But then thick valley cloud rolled over the place and my spirits plummeted once again. The snow was two to three feet deep in places. Finally I had to admit that winter had arrived in the high country, and it would be prudent to get out of there safely while I still could. Back down in the valley bottom, at the trail head in Kootenay National Park, the sun was shining warmly.

Una de las etapas más agradables de la fotografía es la de experimentación, que en el proceso lleva, de manera natural, la diversión. Aquí una muestra de ello.

Shot this morning while bus after bus went by me. I just didn't care. I haven't been "out" shooting in a while and it was f-u-n. Work be damned. Being late be damned. Also? Making people wonder just what was in the trees? F-U-N.

Also? A big Thank You to Annie for her very kind words. If you don't know Annie? You should!

Rainbow trout are our usual catch (& release), and the bigger the better. Hubby found a nice one in amongst the big browns. His title of "King Fisher", was confirmed that day.
