I chose these two images because I honestly think the person who designed the stairs on the left was trying too hard to be innovative. By doing this, they completely missed the point of staircases, which, in my opinion, is to get me from one floor to another, while feeling completely safe. I believe the designer was thinking about the form, before they thought about the function of the design. The stairs on the left look dangerous, and I for one, would avoid using them as much as possible. The staircase on the right however, seem completely safe, and I would not have a problem using them if I needed to.

Double function door in Flor Maria's 'La Ventanilla' market in the Casa Definitiva 'Antumalal' - on the ground floor of her home. The door can be in two different positions: when the market is open, the door closes off the stairway leading to the second floor private space; when the market is closed, the door closes off the front entry.
