Agorwyd yr adeilad yma gan y 'Bwrdd Marchnata Llaeth' yn 1937, ar safle hen hufenfa Fictorianaidd (1896) wrth ymyl rheilffordd GWR Caerfyrddin-Aberystwyth (Manchester and Milford Railway 1866) ar gyfer casglu a prosesu llefrith yr ardal. (Menyn oedd prif allbwn yr hufenfa gynt, gan bod menyn yn haws i'w drin na llefrith. Creuwyd 5 tunnell yr wythnos yn 1905)
"rectangular in plan with a narrow rectangular east wing, is entirely functional with no architectural embellishment; it is steel-framed with reinforced concrete walls, one and a half storeys high under an asbestos-clad twin pitched roof on the north and west and two storeys high under a flat roof on the south and east. A steel-framed, asbestos-clad tower rises from the roof on the north side and at the west end there is a full-width raised deck, for receiving milk lorries, covered by a substantial steel-framed awning."
Ar ôl i'r llefrith gyrraedd ar gefn loriau, byddai yn cael ei wirio ( o ran arogl, golwg a tymheredd) a'i roi mewn tanciau, a'i oeri. Yna bydd yn cael ei roi mewn wagan tren 3000 galwyn cyn cael ei glydo i Gaerfyrddin ac ymlaen i Lundain.
Tyfodd y galw am lefrith sych / powdr yn yr ail ryfel byd, felly estynwyd yr hufenfa fel gellir rhannu y llefrith yn hyfen a llefrith scim i gynhyrchu llefrith sych.
Erbyn 1950, mi oedd yr hufenfa ar agor 24 awr y dydd yn yr Haf, yn cyflogi 120 ac yn derbyn 30,000 galwyn o lefrith y diwrnod!
Caewyd y rheilffordd i deithwyr yn 1965, ond cadwyd y lein ar agor ar gyfer y trenau llefrith. Erbyn 1969 dim ond 32 oedd y gweithio yn yr hufenfa, a'r llefrith i lawr i 10,000 galwyn y diwrnod. Streiciodd gyrrwyr y loriau yn 1970 a caewyd yr hufenfa a'r rheilffordd. Symydwyd y gweithwyr a'r cynhyrchu i hufenfa fwy modern rhyw 10 milltir i ffwrdd.
Dwi'm yn meddwl bod dim wedi cael ei wneud i'r safle ers hynny. Codwyd y rheilffordd yn y 70au. Mae'r ffarmwr lleol yn defnyddio'r hufenfa i gadwl gwair ac offer, ond mae'n ymddangos fod hini wedi'w cael eu gadel i bydru hefyd.
My old broom was sad n useless. This one makes me want to sweep the porch everyday! Plus it's fun to ride around the yard saying I'm going to get u my pretty n ur little dog too!!
