In the basement of a furniture store. I'm attracted to this functional equipment which seems to become artistic to me.
This is my first image posted using my new Z8. While somewhat smaller than the Z9, the Z8 retains the majority of the functionality of its "big brother." This is also the first image I have posted from my new backyard shooting gallery. I'm still able to get creamy backgrounds while getting closer to my subjects without spooking them. Fun!

My sincere thanks to all who spend the time to view, like or comment on my photos. It is much appreciated!

a famous bridge and border between ciamis and tasikmalaya district , it was functional bridge since the upper side is for train and the below side is for cars and motor bike
Still fine tuning my new camera.
I am liking it more and more as I am learning about the new and improved functionalities!
A hospital ward, could be anywhere I would think. It is functional too, as long as you know what kind of functions are included or excluded. Is a "sense of beauty" functional? Is a piece of art included in the functions offered by a hospital? A flower perhaps? Small things can make a big difference. Most important is the other thing one cannot see in this picture - the humanity of the hospital staff and the person-to-person contact between nurses, doctors and patients. Whatever the architecture.
In the grandiose plan for the redevelopment of the area of the old Trikala prison and its conversion to the "Vassilis Tsitsanis Cultural Center" included the embellishment of the historical chapel of Agios Eleftherios.
The wall that made it "invisible" was shattered, overlaid with stone, ideally integrated into the surrounding area and was rendered to the believers in 2016 fully functional.
Since then, he celebrates with every brilliance every year on the 15th of December in memory, of course, of the sanctified Saint Hieromartyr Eleutherius.
A multi-functional spatial concept combined with an aesthetically
impressive architecture and an ecologically well thought out infrastructure creates the ideal conditions for events for from 40 to 4,000 guests.

Two Mississippi style pleasure boats on The Thames. I suspect that the rear paddles are decorative rather than functional.
The Church of Densuș - Orthodox Place of Worship
Historians say that the “Saint Nicholas” Church in Densuș, currently a functional Orthodox place of worship, is indeed one of the oldest churches in Romania. It was built in the 12th-13th centuries, thus being surpassed by at least a century by the even older “rotunda” in Geoagiu, also in Hunedoara County.
The locals say that there was a Dacian altar here more than 2000 years ago. After the conquest of the new province, rich in gold, wood, but also fruits of the earth, which the Romans called Dacia Felix for a reason, one of the legends says that General Longinus, grateful to his patron god, the god Mars, god of war, built a Christian church here.
In fact, the locals boast of several legendary records: the oldest stone church (although this story is not verified), the oldest icon with Christ painted in Romanian, but also a moving story, a kind of Romeo and Juliet of the Hațeg Country, a legend that is said to have come through the lineage of the Densușian scholar brothers and which you can only learn about if you stay with the welcoming Hațegans. The Painter Ștefan, the author of the paintings on the altar
What is known with certainty about the church, apart from the signatory of the painting from 1443, is the name of a priest, the oldest known priest, who was called Dalc. The main painter, the painter Ștefan, trained, according to specialists, in the tradition of painting specific to the period of the Basarab people and the much better-known monastery at Curtea de Argeș, is the author of the paintings on the entire altar.
He mentions, on the left side of the entrance to the church: “Ștefan painted”. An inscription in Slavonic provides some clarifications and additions, admittedly fragmentary, therefore not very clear: “… in the year 6952 (i.e. 1443) on October 23, Saint Nicholas was painted … the maid and the girls … Amen”.
From the mid-16th century, for almost two centuries, the frescoes were covered with lime and it seems that, during this period, the place of worship would have served, at the same time, both the Orthodox community and the Reformed community of the local nobles (Nemesh), Protestants, Magyarized. There was also a Calvinist parish in the area, and the monument church was taken over by the United Church around 1,700, returning to the Orthodox community a few decades later.
If you visit the church in Densuș, you will notice that the saints painted on the walls have their eyes gouged out along with the plaster. The villagers' stories say that the eyes of the saints were gouged out by Muslim (Turkish) invaders who arrived in the area, as revenge on the Christians they wanted to conquer and subjugate.

One of London's most recognisable sights, familiar from dozens of movies. Its Neo-Gothic towers and sky-blue suspension struts add extraordinary elegance to what is a supremely functional structure. London was a thriving port in 1894 when it was built as a much-needed crossing point in the east, equipped with a then-revolutionary stream-driven bascule mechanism that could raise the roadway to make way for oncoming ships in just three minutes!
Sarter n'a jamais vécu à Drachenburg, préférant rester à Paris.
The vision for Schloss Drachenburg belonged to Stephan von Sarter, a successful financier born in Bonn who had made his fortune in Paris. Despite his immense fortune and knighthood, he never lived in the castle he commissioned. Sarter desired a monumental residence that reflected his status and a romantic ideal of German medieval architecture, even if it incorporated various historical styles.
Construction of the castle began in 1882 and was completed in a remarkably short time, in 1884. Architects Ernst von Ihne and Carl Schlösser designed a sumptuous structure blending elements of the Gothic Revival, Renaissance Revival, and Romanesque Revival styles. It was conceived as a "Schloss" in the grandest sense of the word, a palatial villa rather than a functional defensive castle, built solely for show and prestige. Its strategic location on Drachenfels (Dragon Rock)—famous for its connection to the Nibelungen saga and the dragon Fafnir—further enhanced its mythical appeal.
Sarter never lived in Drachenburg, preferring to remain in Paris. The castle briefly served as his nephew's summer residence and then changed hands and functions over the following decades, including a private boarding school and even a railway school in the mid-20th century.

This is my first Castle model entirely based off of a real castle: Bodiam Castle in England. I built only the front wall, and it isn't scaled perfectly, but I think it's close enough to be quite recognizeable. Also I changed the bridge layout, because of space limitations.
See a picture of the real Bodiam castle here: www.raspberrypi.org/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/england-bo...
There's no interior this time, though the portcullis and main doors are functional.

Friedensreich Hundertwasser (1928–2000)
Painter, architecture doctor, ecological activist and philosopher
The work of Friedensreich Hundertwasser (born Friedrich Stowasser in Vienna) is one of the most important contributions in the art history of post-war modernism. As an important member of the international avant-garde in Paris in the 1950s, he developed his unique visual language. One of the central motifs of his colorful picture world is the spiral.
If today Hundertwasser is considered one of the most popular European artists of our time, his graphic work has made a great contribution. His goal in the art of graphics was to create variations within one edition, with the result that each sheet of an edition is unique, different in color and design from all others.
Hundertwasser's commitment to a more human architecture in harmony with nature and his visionary ecological commitment developed from his belief in the power of nature and individual creativity. Since the 1980s, he has been realizing architectural projects in which there is the window right and tree tenants, the uneven floor, forests on the roof and spontaneous vegetation. His buildings testify to his commitment to diversity instead of monotony, for romanticism, for the organic and for unregulated irregularities, for spontaneous vegetation and for living in harmony with nature.
At the center of his ecological activities were tree planting and greening campaigns, the restoration of natural cycles, the protection of water and the fight for a waste-free society.
He disseminated his socio-critical and ecological positions with manifestos, letters, speeches and public demonstrations in which he criticized the pure functionality of all areas of life, the uninhibited growth doctrine and the adaptation to social conformism.

This is one image in a series on the city at night–––the magic and lure of its lights, the mix of architectural styles, the resulting dynamic when framed with a portion of the purely functional parking decks which served as my shooting platform. In the end though, it is the light that drives these images, providing the visual magic and lure that is a city at night. To see more in the CITY LIGHTS series, check out my City Lights Album

The Darckr Flickr Viewer is a webapp and a mashup based upon the flickr web rest apis.
Darckr allows to view Flickr content and helps in social life and picture management, by posting comments, or editing photo parameters.
For me, Darckr is an experimental platform to study the web2 languages.
Working is easier in beautiful surroundings...
Darckr uses ajax for continuous page preloading and streaming (here my own pictures sorted by interestingness according to Flickr), and the mootools javascript api.
The originality of Darckr is that the end user can freely customize his preferred viewing settings and save them on demand in cookies.
Ironically, this free software has become the mostly used of my programs ever, with more than 3000 thousand users of the full functionality,
several thousand pages viewed per day, and some 70000 api calls per day.
Still rising :-).
Darckr uses Ajax to interact with one's flickr account in ways not offered by the flickr web site itself.
