Wave Function Most of us have seen the formation of ripples when a pebble is dropped into a pond. The ripples are produced due to the disturbance created by the pebble. The ripples travel in concentric circles of ever-increasing radius till they strike the boundary of the pond. Place a toy boat near the disturbance. You will observe that the toy boat does not move towards or away from the source of disturbance, but just moves up and down at the same point. This indicates that the water does not move forward but the particles of water move up and down about its original position and it is the disturbance, which moves forward. The formation of ripples on the surface of water is an example of wave motion.Let us study more about these waves in this section.

I chose these two images because I honestly think the person who designed the stairs on the left was trying too hard to be innovative. By doing this, they completely missed the point of staircases, which, in my opinion, is to get me from one floor to another, while feeling completely safe. I believe the designer was thinking about the form, before they thought about the function of the design. The stairs on the left look dangerous, and I for one, would avoid using them as much as possible. The staircase on the right however, seem completely safe, and I would not have a problem using them if I needed to.
