Worldly Canine Art
An apt description of Bergin University of Canine Studies is that it functions as a think tank…an institution filled with canine related knowledge accumulated over the ages. People come from around the world to study canines. While we teach dogs, they teach us! The Worldly Canine Art Collection features dogs in paintings that convey powerful messages. We invite you to let the dogs teach you about the world in which you live! The collection is proudly displayed in library.
ABOVE: Stephan Huneck’s painting invites you into the canine classroom. Stephan attributed his dogs with bringing him out of a coma and saving his life. He subsequently devoted his life to depicting canine emotions in his inspiring works of art. He built The Dog Chapel on Dog Mountain in St. Johnsburg, Vt. Where dogs and their owners could come and go at will and pay tribute to those who have crossed the Rainbow Bridge.
Here the dogs teach the terms “recession”, “depression”, and “love.” When the U.S. economy took a turn for the worse, Stephen was faced with laying-off employees and losing his beloved Dog Mountain and the Chapel. He took his life, crossed the bridge, and joined his canine family members that he loved so dearly. An avalanche of love followed as fans around the world came to the defense of Dog Mountain. Stephen’s wife Gwen struggles to this day to continue her husband’s legacy and keep the Chapel’s doors open so humans and canines alike can visit 24 hours a day.

I too attribute my dog with saving “my” life. I once considered “my” options. I promised my dog Booster that I would never again take life for granted. I also promised him that I would take at least one day out of every vacation to extol canine virtues to express my gratitude for all that he has done for me. As a result, we have traveled the world hand in paw. The myriad newspaper articles you will find on the Internet describing our journeys together are in reality a manifestation of my promise to Booster. He brought me to Bergin University of Canine Studies where I obtained my Master’s Degree in December 2011. He has been the greatest teacher I have ever known. My Worldly Canine Art Collection evidences what dogs have taught me outside of the classroom. The world would be a different place if we simply lead by canine example.
