Scholes's original clubhouse was destroyed in August 2016 by teenage arsonists. Its replacement, paid for partly by fundraising activities in the village, was unveiled in September 2017.
Captain Mubtada Akhtar led by example for Leeds Caribbean. He struck 60 in a fine fourth wicket partnership with wicketkeeper Haseen Bashir (47). It transformed the Potternewton men's innings, advancing them to 123-4 from 29-3. Akhtar then took 2-17 from his 20 balls.
Leeds Caribbean reached 94-3 at halfway. Over the second 50 balls, Scarcroft did well to apply the brakes, restricting the opposition to 147-8. Sebastian Joseph (2-28), Dilip Sarathy (2-34) and South African James Van Der Merwe (2-40) shared the bulk of the wickets.
Scarcroft's reply had a sound start. They were 52-0 after 25 balls. Van Der Merwe (51), dropped during the early stages, and Chris Page (35) put on 81 for the first wicket. Scarcroft then slumped to 104-4 after 75 balls. They required 39 off 20 and 32 from 10. Despite some big hitting (including two sixes) from Dhilin Goven (26 not out), Scarcroft fell agonisingly short, at 139-6. Bashir took 2-28.

A joint Biochemical Society / FEBS Focused Meeting, held to mark the retirement of Professor Robin Irvine, FRS. This meeting brought together both world leading and early career scientists to discuss their latest research into the cellular functions of inositol phospholipids and phosphates.
A fascinating textbook on Outdoor Advertising - "its function in modern advertising and marketing" published in 1953 and claiming to be the first such volume published since Cyril Sheldon's 1916 "Billposting" that had been reissued in 1927. The book considers, in three sections, the practical production of advertising including the contractor, agent and designer; a second looking at application of planning and selection of advertising type and location including the impact of the then new planning laws and, finally, research into target audiences for various campaigns.
The book has numerous illustrations including a series of uncredited sketches showing aspects of advertising in the 'townscape' as well as various reproductions of poster artwork.
Cadbury's Bourn-Vita was the company's 'answer' to Ovaltine and Horlicks, a chocolate/cocoa based drink promoted as an aid to restful sleep. This page looks at how a continuing theme in press advertising can lead to a more minimalist approach due to product recognition. The sleepy mug and night hat was available in real life as a moulded earthenware mug and plastic 'cap' and indeed I still have an example. The main poster is by "Clynick".

This fountain is about five ft wide by three ft high, with three granite slabs and brass fittings at the top and bottom. It's made, I think, by Water Wonders. Probably retails around a couple-three Gs. Of the dozen or so I've seen of various sizes in my day-to-day travails, only about two have been working.
Imagery of Current RAF Mountain Rescue Service personnel and the Mountain Rescue Association members at the 70th Anniversary Dinner to celebrate 70 years of saving lives. The dinner was guested by the SARF Cdr Group Captain Sara Mackmin and Padre Stu Shaw, plus many memebers of the famous RAF Mountain Rescue Association. The dinner was held at the Park Hall Hotel in Charnock richard off Junction 27 of the M6 motorway. Many memebers were re-united with friends they had not seen for many years. All of the Association members have served there part on Mountain Rescue around the UK and abroad over the years and rejoin every year on their anniversary. Current RAF Mountain Rescue Teams from every base came to the function this included RAF Lossiemouth MRT, RAF Leuchars MRT; RAF Leeming MRT and RAF Valley MRT plus support staff from the Mountain Rescue HQ. The guest speaker on the night was ex Mountain Rescue Leader Ted Atkins who famously walked up Mount Everest and retold his memoirs to an amazed audience.
