Crazy Tuesday "Fun With Glass"

On Lake Wilcox, Richmond Hill. As York Region went from complete lock down to Red alert, families are going for some outdoor fun including playing on thin ice against posted warning. Explored, Mar 20, 2021.

I needed a photo of Norway for a project, so was going through my archives and found this. Fun with boat wake maybe? They ended up going with a different image, but I had fun giving this one a new crop.

Since I need some winter images for a proper photo calendar i looked for something worth capturing during those days when we had at least a little bit of snow.

Actually the amount of snow we had wasn’t even enough to cover the grass on this hill, so I cloned out hundreds of grass blades, which was great fun.

Not.

If you are into counting, you are welcome to check my assertion based on the original image:

Young ladies having fun on the boat on the Canal St Martin

Construction of the canal was ordered by Napoleon I in 1802, in order to create an artificial waterway for supplying Paris with fresh water to support a growing population and to help avoid diseases such as dysentery and cholera.

Gaspard de Chabrol, prefect of Paris, proposed to build a canal from the river Ourcq (starting 100 km northeast of Paris). The canal was dug from 1802 to 1825, funded by a new tax on wine. The canal was also used to supply Paris with food (grain), building materials, and other goods, carried on canal boats. Two ports were created in Paris on the canal to unload boats: Port de l'Arsenal and Bassin de la Villette.

By the 1960s, traffic had dwindled to a trickle and the canal narrowly escaped being filled in and paved over for a highway. Today, the canal is covered from Rue du Faubourg du Temple to the Place de la Bastille.

In late December 2006, 350 tents were put on the Canal Saint-Martin by the NGO Les Enfants de Don Quichotte, in support of the "right to lodging" (Droit

au logement

). The NGO invited well-lodged people to sleep a night in the tent, alongside homeless people. The NGO Médecins du monde (MDM) had taken the initiative, in 2005, to give tents to all homeless people in Paris, in order to provide them with minimal privacy and to make misery visible. But the prefecture of police, under orders of Interior Minister Nicolas Sarkozy, was progressively expelling homeless people camping in Paris. Thus, the Enfants de Don Quichotte's action attracted attention to this expulsion. In the context of the 2007 presidential election, Jacques Chirac announced that the "opposable right to lodging" would be enacted into law before the end of his term.

Northeast Ohio is now finally in full bloom. We found this patch of wild daisies on a recent dog walk. Followed by a little Photoshop fun with oils.

As always was a pleasure to visit and enjoy the geishas company. I was lucky because their events are when I'm working, so yesterday I couldn't lose the chance.

Here with the lovely Toshiha. I think this time I drank too much sake.

I couldn't let Sunday pass without sharing the fun with Photoshop's Generative Fill I had today. I used Generative Fill to dismiss several logs on the right side of the basalt cliff where the falls drop, added some interest to the foreground water and as the coup de grace, added two figures jumping into the falls on the left. Generative fill works pretty well for inanimate objects but it's ability to do people is a spectacular failure! Those people are pretty scary; they're good for Halloween decor. They are too large as well as the falls drop is 43 feet.

I was inspired to add the jumpers because I read this fall is popular on social media as a place to film your friends jumping into the plunge pool. If you are curious about the number of logs removed, go look at the photo I posted looking down at the falls, three frames back.

Happy Slider Sunday!

My first attempt at really taking my own photos

Thanks to Mary for the great idea!!!!!!
