I have to cancel our trip to California. Because of the entry ban for Europeans. Months of planning and anticipation.
Everything gone!
What a pity!
And yes... I know there are really worse things in the world these days.
These two black bears were so much fun to watch. They would chase each other around trees over and over as if they were playing Ring Around the Rosie and then they would start play fighting.
'Peanut' was a beautiful squirrel residing in Bridal Falls BC, where I captured his image... then, a about a year later, stricken with breast cancer, during my chemotherapy treatments, I painted him. Was so blessed as I described on the image inscription...
Sunlight amazes me after months of rain and fog. This is a slinky, "a precompressed helical spring toy invented by Richard James in the early 1940s. It can perform a number of tricks, including travelling down a flight of steps end-over-end as it stretches and re-forms itself with the aid of gravity and its own momentum, or appear to levitate for a period of time after it has been dropped."
But I simply wanted to play with the bokeh light and shadows, for now.
This week Photoclub met at the amazing sim Vindfjell. It is beautifully done, with mist and fog and lots of rain. You can go heard sheep or just be sneaky and take a peek at what your friends are up to... ☺

16th trail hike since March 25th. Social distancing is outstanding as I was passed by 4 other people today.

On August 10th, 1979, a former Sealink passenger ferry called 'The Duke of Lancaster' was beached at Llanerch-y-Môr in North Wales with the intention of turning it into a floating leisure and retail complex called The Fun Ship, but the project never achieved its full potential due to many long running legal disputes with the local council. All these years later the ship is still sitting there waiting to know its fate. In 2012 and 2013 a number of graffiti artists transformed the sides of the ship with works like this one (my personal favourite) by British artist Dale Grimshaw. The latest plan, I believe, is to turn the ship into the largest open air art gallery in the UK. I'm keeping my fingers tightly crossed that the ship can be saved.
This effect was created by placing a piece of plastic on top of my computer screen with an all white background. I placed a crystal ball on top of the plastic to maginify the poloraized colors. The compositon was photographed using a Polarized Filter.

Apparently, this phrase from my childhood, barrel of fun, is now only used sarcastically, so it's actually not a barrel of fun. But I reserve the olde skool usage here.

Fog and steam from generator cars make for photo fun at the Great Northern Depot in Minneapolis on Nov. 19, 1977. The blue flag has been pulled from the Empire Builder behind F40PHR's after an overnight trip from Chicago; it will head west to Willmar. On the other track is the Arrowhead getting ready to depart for Duluth behind an SDP40F. If you stood here today you would be in parking lot looking at the Federal Reserve Bank, no trace of the depot remains.
Happy Monochrome Monday! I took this cliche shot of our youngest son pretending to climb the Leaning Tower of Pisa. Took sbout a dozen snaps to get one close. It would have been easier to photosho it! :-)
