A morning in Rome before the onslaught of tourists

a storm cloud in the evening sun… well it wasn’t too romantic, just a very short moment in which the sun came out. then… eifelgeddon happened and i was happy for my rainproof camera-bag.

Here is an early morning view of the John Oliver Cabin just as the sun was beginning to break through the trees. This cabin, which was built in the early 1820's, is the oldest log cabin in Cades Cove. Although driving around Cades Cove may takes a few hours, it remains a must do for anyone visiting Great Smoky Mountains National Park (GSMNP).

Droid has discovered a friendly sphere!

Canberra in December-January is quite empty as people tend to be on holidays. This is a shot shows the rather empty streets with the Academy of Science dome in the background.

It stayed still & let me get fairly close before just strolling down the small bank & into the pool. I feel very lucky to have had the chance to get this shot, & be so close to nature... I have to say - it's good for the soul !

Chaucer and Chloee don't really get along (i.e. she torments the little guy) so when she pays him a visit he retreats to his safety corner where she can't get to him.

I think his face says it all. 😅 But don’t worry, once she leaves, he’s back to his normal happy self!

(Self-critique - I had to swap lenses to get a close enough shot, and forgot to set the lens I used for this to 5.6 since I set the other one and my brain didn't brain. So, sadly his nose is a little out of focus.)
