We spent a Sunday afternoon driving along the Fruit Loop in the Hood River Valley.

I purposely went into this car wash because I knew they had this soap. When I was a kid, I used to beg my dad to bring me to the car wash with the colorful soap. For me, this was capturing a piece of my childhood and memories with my dad. I actually sent this to him and he told me he could picture my excitement as a little girl staring out the window.

Since there isn’t a focal point or a certain angle, I think the best element of this photo is the color and different shapes (Composition). I also think the abstract nature of the photo is interesting because without the background knowledge of the photo, one wouldn’t know that it was a car wash for sure.

I used Auto mode for this shot because I still wasn’t sure how to use my shutter or aperture mode properly. I now understand why my camera chose the f3.5 aperture because in order to capture a bigger depth of field. My camera used a 1/30 shutter speed because at this rate, the camera was able to capture the foam soap slowly dripping down the window.
