My wife and I thought we’d indulge our inner children a little, so we got a small box of fruit loop cereal. While eating, my wife suggested I take a picture of it, and so I did. This may be the first time I’ve had a daily photo this early in the day.
The Fruit Loop flavored Rainbow cake we made for Josh. Yes, those are 'lines of loop' on the counter.
Just playing around in Photoshop. And yes, I did put the cereal back in the box.. so shhh Dawn... Don't want the kids to know...lol

Was thinking of Abstract work with photography, and how it isn't the easiest to do... So then I got to thinking.. What about trying something out in the creative commons instead, and that's when I came up with the idea of a flower or two using Fruitloops cereal and some "Cocoa Crispies"..
This is what I came up with...
Calumet CC400 4x5 Monorail
Kodak Ektar 127mm Æ’/4.7
Fomapan 400 ASA
Rodinal 1+50 15:00

in a world full of cherrios
~ i am a froot loop~
yup
i admit it
i am so not in the box
and sometimes
that gets me in trouble
oh sure
we all try to be like the cherrios
buy the same cars
move into neighborhoods
dress like we think we should
and raise our kids with high ideals
but what happens when you are alone
and no one is there to judge
i try to live my life like that
no matter what
the pressure of fitting in
and following the predestined guide
is always around
and i am not saying run naked
in the town square
but do not be afraid to show
how individual you are
for God created us that way
and He does not make mistakes
this blends into the photography world
as many try to "copyright" a style or look
to this i laugh
since no one can claim anything
as original these days
it all has been done
and copied
get over it people
just do what you do for the sheer enjoyment of it
creating art should inspire passion

My fruitloop cat. I have a double sink vanity and the princess here will lay in the right hand sink and demand water (vociferously) in the left hand sink. The sink is her favorite spot to curl up while I shower, she also has to be in the bathroom with me, no doors are allowed to be between us, I've used enough wood filler fixing scratches.

This is the last photo for my Project365 for 2010. Journaling reads:
Wow. I made it! Day 365.
I had a vision for this photo and of course the picture in my mind couldn't be created in reality. I finally found Anna a pair of jeans ("jeggings") so I wanted all three kids to wear jeans, take off their shoes and socks, and sit on the dock at the pond near our house. I had this vision of them dangling their feet and holding hands while I got a photo of them from the waist down with maybe a hint of their reflections in the water. Well, the water is high and their feet would've been in the water had they sat down on the dock! So, plan B. But I didn't have a plan B! Instead we wandered. I had them sit on a picnic bench and dangle their feet.. then hold hands. Nah. It was 4 p.m., so the lighting was harsh but it was the only window in which I could have Jenny today. So I tried getting all the kids to jump at the same time. Oh my goodness, this is much harder to pull off than it looks! But I got a shot that I didn't hate (though I wish the dock wasn't behind Pickle, oh well) so here it is... my last photo of the day for Project 365 of 2010.
It's been an amazing journey. As I look back over the year, my eyes fill with tears. I've watched Dominic grow from a fidgety 5-year old kindergartner into a mature 6-year old first grader. He is SO smart, seriously... he's doing algebra already in his head... and he is so very patient, loving, and kind with Anna. He reminds me so much of Jenny when she was his age. Anna started the year in a premature puberty caused by the medication she was on which we've since changed. Her health was poor, her behavior was all over the place, and she was not very happy. She turned nine this year, had a big academic setback, but is now, finally, healthy and happy. Moving her to Life Skills was the best move we could've done for her to help her cope at school. She hasn't had a seizure at all this year and she continues to get us all giggling nearly every day. Jenny graduated from high school, moved away to attend college, celebrated two years with her boyfriend, Chris, and turned 19. What a year! Seeing her drive off in August for Corpus Christi was gut-wrenching. It turns out that it was hard for her too and she has moved back to Austin to attend school here. We couldn't be happier. I too have made big leaps this year. Starting the year shooting in auto mode or on P mode with my Nikon D40 and kit lens to now shooting in full manual mode with a Nikon D300 and a 35mm f/1.8 prime lens has been a big learning curve and I've loved every second of it! I discovered a photographer living inside of me and I have HUGE goals for 2011. I can't wait to see what this next year is going to bring me and I can't wait to share some of my exciting plans with all of you. Thank you for being such a great support as I photographed my daily life, documenting the mundane, the boring, the holidays, the celebrations, the scary stuff, and the everyday joys. This is what life is about.

I made this card to send to a friend of mine in Oregon.
The card base was made digitally and then printed using the Hero Arts Friendship Definition free digikit. The paper is Hero Arts Lime and comes as an extra in this kit. Then I stamped the Friendship Definition brush repeatedly to make my own patterned background paper.
I added the photo of my favorite tree - a mulberry tree in our backyard, just off the deck - and gave it a vignette in Photoshop. Then I added the ribbon from a digital scrapbooking kit called Stardust by FruitLoOp Sally and the text over top of that. Then I printed it out and made it into a card base.
I stamped Hero Arts B4951 Owl and K5062 Stamping Green Tree onto plain white cardstock. I adhered the tree to a piece of chipboard from a cereal box. I colored both with colored pencils. I used Vintage Photo Distress Crackle Paint on the tree trunk for texture. Then I added Glossy Accents to the owl's eyes and to the berries on the tree. I added Bundled Sage, Broken China, and Tea Dye Distress Inks to the tree. I cut out both stamped images and attached them with foam squares for dimension.
These are also my favorite colors for World Cardmaking Day: aqua blue, sage green, and burnt orange.
Thanks for looking! :-)
as part of our 'school day' today we made a camera obscura from a Fruit Loops box and some parchment paper! it was hard to stick the end of my 24-70 in the end of the box and actually get a decent picture of what we were seeing, but i tried! you can see pics at the end of the view you were seeing in the box, and our lovely camera obscura in all it's Fruit Loops glory.

The most amazing cheesecake in the world. Take Fruit Loops, crush them up, coat some frozen cheesecake in them, then deep fry them. I'm now on a mission to find this recipe, it's absolutely amazing!
Don't you hate it when you drop your spoon in your cereal bowl?
Strobist- SB900 overhead zoomed into bowl, 2 SB900's camera left and right with small diffusers, fired with SU800 & Nikon CLS.

Saw this in Harris Teeter and thought it was a strange placement for the reminder about free generic diabetes treatments.

In New York City this weekend I had the craziest ice cream ever! The flavor was Cookie Monster (vanilla, Oreos, and cookie dough) and the cone was made of Fruit Loops infused with marsh mellows. What a treat!

I came up with this craft for a group of tween girls at a camp...it was a last minute idea. I used fruit loops instead of candy because it was cheaper to get a big box of cereal ($2). The idea is a play off of Ooh La La's candy cupcakes. I will be using Ooh La La's original idea for a "welcome baby" gift for visitors in a couple weeks. Pics of those will follow soon after.
Not the best photo, but I love the Fruit Loops. And matching collar, in honor of Folsom.
I also liked his pill bottle outfit at the 2005 SF Pride Parade.
