I've been going through some of my old car show pics, most of which haven't been seen by anybody but me, just to see what I can do with them now that I have learned more editing techniques.
I love these late 30s to early 40s Ford front ends.

This time the gates were open to the courtyard at the, now closed, Velvet Cactus restaurant from the last shot. Inside, I found this colorful bit of garden bling.
This cool car is at the Klairmont Kollection Automotive Museum in Chicago.
Thanks for views, comments and favs :)
The hood of this car was up. I'm not exactly sure what this is called...looks like the front of the hood, just for show purposes I guess. This was inside Berger Chevrolet during the 28th Street Metro Cruise last year. So much chrome...sure don't make cars like this anymore.

I find this combination of excellent sharpness in frontend and the quite controled bokeh that still gives lot of background context, pleasing

... with the upside-down hood or roof part is designed by a genius. We just have to take away the double curved slope and get a well-rounded, well-framed vent/grille that is typical of quite a few classic sports cars. No sticker required. The 1x2 rounded plate comes in handy, too. We really get a lot of fantastic new parts with the 2018 SC line.
To mod the black and white Camaro is a bit trickier than the red one - the frontend is a little disproportionate and had to be shortened for one stud. However, the wheelbase remains the same. Wheels were shrinked. On the other hand I more or less kept the design of the sides and rear which is very nice.
Surprisingly it is possible to keep the SC mudguards here although the scale is the same like on the red Camaro and the Z06. This means: No hole fixing at the mudguards, which is very nice.
Front wheel design is taken from Sam, see www.flickr.com/photos/121153351@N02/16140113245/ (pulled out). Still not happy with the rear wheels, though.
Stickers aren't yet applied. The metallic look of the rail plates as bumpers is very nice btw.
Frontend works for me like this. As a bumper I've found a dark gray rigid hose in 5 L which seems to be an official length.
There were some complaints about the wheel size on Facebook - to me it looks quite correct, the small wheels being a typical element of a classic Mini. I just checked the size of the rims: Diameter is 8 mm, which would mean 280 mm on the protoype in 1:35 scale. According to Wikipedia the classic Mini has 10 inch rims, which would mean 254 mm. That's an excellent match on a Lego car in minifig scale in my opinion.
Less bulky frontend with bumper, thinner, more elegant rockers, more fluent backend (see detail pic).
Regarding the rockers: In fact I re-installed the row of cheese slopes of the model but omitted one layer above them to get a more typical ground clearance (which was reduced considerably due to the smaller wheels).

This thing keeps me going ... When I saw LEGO_MOCkingJ's WIP, see www.flickr.com/photos/132949993@N06/33209480191, there was the idea how to get a better frontend in spite of the scanner lighting. However, instead of a curved slope I used a hinge plus 2x2 tile. I think it does look better plus the scanner is even narrower now (halfplate, more or less).
Hopefully that's it for now ... ;-)
