Then using dodge and burn to retouch and smooth.
I asked this young woman to be angry for the camera. It seems like she may be too much of a happy spirit to look really angry.
final version- added dodge/burn layer, added skin tone over all (golden brown) lifted background a little to see hair, then added in another high frequency layer as it had lost some detail in the skin & lashes- I put that one on overlay

My third attempt at Frequency Separation. This will mark the end of announcing how many attempts there have been I'm just glad I found this tool.
Lightroom edit. Tone control, color control, spot removal.
Lightroom's spot removal would only do so much so I next put the image into Photoshop to do a frequency separation. Then used a healing brush.
