To Do What Is Right
Artist: Lincoln_RB
Martin Luther King, Jr mural inside one of the freight elevators at Industry City
24/366
With warm shiny glee, the chair held out hope for a renewal of the days of yore, when freight deliveries; the comings and goings of an important building's factory needs, ebbed and flowed tide-like via the elevator by which it faithfully stood.
Unfortunately, this was not the case for some time as the factory fell out of use, and lively activity moved on. For a while the chair maintained its faith that things would return to normal, but one day, quite suddenly, the shade was drawn on all loyal belief.
Now the chair sits stoically; aware, but numb to the curtain of blackness which it has finally allowed to claim a new home.
Ein Blick nach oben, ein Aufzug für Baumaterial.
Sieht nach Eigenbau aus. Gut gesichert !?
Da kann bestimmt nichts herunter fallen, oder?

A look up, an elevator for building materials.
Looks homemade. Well secured!?
Nothing can fall down, can it?

La nave cargo portacontainer "Livorno Express" , in navigazione lungo la costa tirrenica toscana, livornese, al tramonto. (17-3-2019 @ Frank Andiver)
I think old freight elevators are really creepy. The sound they make while going up; you can hear the metal cables stretching while you feel metal crackling around you, while going up each floor...

No off-camera flash.
No texture.
No crop.
Taken with a pocket camera.
Pretty much SOOC.
(Technical nightmares but as they say, "adapt and overcome".)
Special thanks to:

Shot in the 100-year-old freight elevator.
#NewArrivals! These just in - amazing metal frame and chicken wire glass freight elevator doors come complete with tracks so your door installer can bring them back to life again. They would be amazing in a loft apartment. They come from a lower #Broadway office #building and we have several pair, but no telling for how long! 63.5(W) 84 | 93(H) 1.5(D) Item 41941 #elevatordoor #interiordesign #architecture #industrialdesign #door #vintage architecturalsalvage #upcycle #recycle #freightelevator

For those who haven't come yet to La Réunion, some parts of the island are only accessible by foot or by helicopter, like Mafate and here the village of Grand Bassin.
Grand Bassin enjoys a freight elevator that allows resupply. The people do not necessarily have to carry what they need along a steep trail (650 meters altitude difference).
