One can take in many sights from the 5, from the Pacific Ocean, to the mountains, to military activity near Camp Pendleton.
Entering the last few days of our stay in BC, I headed out to Victoria on the 25th of October. Never taken the car across before, so it was interesting seeing the cars zoom out of the ferry during unloading.

One of many murals alongside the freeways of Los Angeles. This one, on the Hollywood Freeway (101), is 'Lita Albuquerque Monument' (1984) by Kent Twitchell.
Its description in the database of the Mural Conservancy of Los Angeles:
'A tribute to artist Lita Albuquerque as part of the 7th Street Altarpiece. This piece faces a complementary mural of Jim Morphesis done by the same artist. Restored by MCLA in 1989 and 2012.'

Kwinana Freeway passing along Melville Water forming part of the Swan River at the confluence of Canning River. The freeway is part of the major north-south freeway corridoe through the Perth metropolitan area and was the first section constructed in conjunction with the Narrows Bridge.
This section of freeway was initially four lanes through South Perth and Como along undeveloped and partly filled land along the river as far south as Canning Highway in 1959 with pedestrian access to the rivers edge provided by a series of footbridges along this section. The freeway was extended south to Leach Highway and South Street in 1982 with this section widened to three lanes soon after.
The centre median railway to Mandurah was completed in 2007 after a change in initial plans which were to see the line head directly into the Perth CBD rather than a less direct route via the Armadale line following the freight only line from Jandakot to Kenwick.

Beginning around Warren Road, I-90 sports a wide median which was originally made to accommodate the never-completed Parma Freeway. It could still be converted to reversible HOV or express lanes if ODOT ever waned to.
I had a lot of camera shake in my last attempt to capture the 110 Freeway tunnels zooming by. (Actually traffic was light so I was only doing about 45 mph.) This time I took some advice (thanks John!) and relied on my own arm to minimize shake ... with a little help from my camera's image stabilization wizardry. I also used the Nikon, which has a more sensitive sensor, but a different color balance in artificial light, thus the deeper gold color. I haven't color adjusted. I like the effect.
