In a world of ropes and silken binds,
Where hands are stilled and flesh confined,
The body wears the weight of ties,
But the soul, unburdened, softly flies.
Bound in ropes that trace the skin,
Knots of tension, woven in,
They map a route through flesh and bone,
Yet, in constraint, the spirit roams.
For what is freedom, what is flight,
But breaking through the walls of sight?
We walk through life on unseen strings,
Led by our fears, tied to our wings.
Yet here, in shibari’s ancient art,
Each loop, each tie, unchains the heart.
The ropes reveal what strength lies bare,
In surrender’s grip, a fierce repair.
In bindings tight, the body learns,
To let go, to twist, to bend, to yearn,
To find in limits, bound and pressed,
The unbroken will that dares unrest.
So take the jute rope and hold,
Find power there, in weakness bold,
For ropes may grip, but cannot bind,
The soaring depths of a freed mind.

I handed in my PhD today. That's 4 years work! With a free mind and a clear head I went for a walk with my camera down to Edgerton Cemetery. Lovely to stroll around and just look.

These iconic destinations are situated very near to CP. Moreover, accommodation at CP is fabulous. There is no dearth of luxury hotels. When you happen to visit a place like CP, it’s great to come with a stress-free mind. Therefore, it is always a good choice to opt for metro. No need to explain that your own vehicle might put you in traffic for hours. CP is very well connected to metro via Rajiv Chowk metro station. It’s a wise choice to come by Metro. There are many entry/exit gates. If you already have specific destinations on mind like Janpath, Palika Bazaar, etc., choose the respective exit gate. Though parking lots are busy and crowded, if you come by your own vehicle, you will find the space to park.
At CP, the first and best experience is a view at the largest national flag in the country at the Central Park. You will be entirely soaked into patriotism. It is fantastic to see the tricolour sway with proud and smile with enthusiasm. CP consists of inner and outer circles. Outer Circle consists of offices and small shops, creating little stir amid tourists.
Nonetheless, whether you come with a mood to splurge on shopping, hangout with friends, or experience the multi cuisine eateries, inner circle promises to surprise you at each step you take. There is no dearth of large showrooms, shopping stores, and restaurants in CP. Another reason that makes CP popular is the interesting underground market Palika Bazaar. Everything from clothes, accessories, electronic items, toys, shoes, bags to mobile phones and much more is available here at unbelievable prices. If the price of an article is Rs. 500, you can buy it for 200 or less. Yes, you read it right. This is the level of bargaining at Palika. Come with excellent bargaining skills and Palika happily shakes hand with you.

Another pleasing and more exciting market is Janpath which keeps people energetic with exotic things. Walking around and shopping here is one of the best things to do at CP. Once you are at Janpath, you cannot leave empty handed. From clothes, bags, accessories, to home décor objects, you will find nice quality at handsome prices. Opposite Janpath is an array of good restaurants.
Where to Go to Satiate Craving for Food and Beverages in CP?
If you are willing to treat yourself with sumptuous shakes, Keventers aka Shake Square must be your choice. While the entire CP is busy with shopping and eating, Keventers is committed to mesmerize its customers with the excellent shake flavours since 1925. No wonder if you are asked to form a queue and wait. Next to Keventers is Wenger’s (oldest bakery), serving since 1926. Wenger’s is known for an amazing range of pastries, cakes, and snacks. Next interesting place Parikrama, the revolving restaurant is located at Antriksh Bhawan, Connaught Place. In addition to nice views at rooftop, the eatery delights its customers with a tempting menu. Madras Coffee House is as old as our Republic but avoid it as the House hasn't been able to maintain good quality over the years.
So, are you done with everything? Not yet, something important is still waiting for you! If you have not tickled your innards with Banarsi Paan, no worries! Interesting flavours by Odeon Milan Paan shop are no less. The Chuski Paan is a must try.

The Cosmos Club stands as "the closest thing to a social headquarters for Washington's intellectual elite." So wrote Western scholar Wallace Stegner in his acclaimed work, Beyond the Hundredth Meridian. His judgment echoed the oft-repeated statement of World War II days that the most significant concentration of Washington's public policy intellectuals centered at the Cosmos Club, unless it was at Union Station when the night train from Boston arrived.
Since its founding in 1878, the Cosmos Club has adhered to its stated corporate objectives: "The advancement of its members in science, literature, and art," and also "their mutual improvement by social intercourse."
The year 1878 saw the Club's founding in the home of John Wesley Powell.
The history of the Cosmos Club is present in every room, not as homage to the past, but as a celebration of its continuum...A reminder of its origins, its genius, and its distinction.
Clarence Dutton, soldier and geologist, was asked by his New York City friends, "Why have you not in Washington a club like the Century?" His circle of friends met to organize one at the home of John Wesley Powell, soldier and explorer, ethnologist, Director of the Geological Survey, and consummate organizer.
The community of scientists and intellectuals in Washington grew rapidly in the 1870's. They came to serve in various government agencies...some to explore, survey and understand the geography and resources of the United States... others to expand its intellectual and cultural foundations... or build its economic, social, medical, and industrial prowess... or set forth on expeditions to learn the world's secrets...
Powell and his colleagues were at the heart of these efforts.
There were other societies, but they tended toward specialization and formal meetings. Powell's vision was a center of good fellowship, a club that embraced the sciences and the arts, where members could meet socially and exchange ideas, where vitality would grow from the mixture of disciplines, and a library would provide a refuge for thought and learning.
It was called the Cosmos Club.
In early 1879, the Club rented space in the downtown Corcoran Building, a central location. It offered "extremely simple refreshments, at least at first... a place where it will be possible to meet socially at any time, under pleasant surroundings."
The Club quickly outgrew its five modest rooms. In 1882 it leased new quarters at Lafayette Square, #23 Madison Place. And it soon purchased the corner building, the Dolley Madison House. By 1917, the Club had bought five properties and built a five story building.
The Dolley Madison House, named after the wife of the fourth President, served as Cosmos Club headquarters on Lafayette Square from 1886 to 1952.
"The lounge in the old Clubhouse...had a shabby elegance and charm never to be forgotten. Its proportions were almost perfect, its decor restful, the pictures and portraits on the walls impressive, its furniture as comforting as old shoes and about as worn... from a perch over the mantelpiece, Dolley Madison kept a complacent approving watch." [Gibson]
"The Club used all those houses and of course all were connected... It was a cozy place with many corners where you could sit and visit." [Horace Albright]
Rudyard Kipling was often a guest. He recalled meeting another frequent visitor, Theodore Roosevelt, then a Civil Service Commissioner. "I curled up on the seat opposite and listened and wondered, until the universe seemed to be spinning 'round and Theodore was the spinner".
Always a crossroads of thought, the major scientific societies in Washington met regularly at the Cosmos Club. It was the birthplace of many kindred organizations, among them, the National Geographic Society.
During times of crisis, of the World Wars and the Depression, the old Clubhouse was constantly active, a cherished haven for scores of scientists and specialists detailed to Washington on various missions.
For instance, a meeting over dinner at the Club, on August 28, 1940, laid the foundation for the Anglo-American radar partnership that was instrumental in winning World War II.
"During World War Two, Horace Albright recalled being in the fifth floor member's dining room to watch the Inaugural Parade:
"But very often over in the corner, the very place we stood to watch the parade, you'd find a table of scientists. Members would point out right away that those were the scientists who were on a secret project. People would wonder what that's all about, wonder what's going to come out of their talks. They were over there... day after day."
Whether physicists from the Manhattan Project, then, or social scientists developing public policy now, the Club has been a place where, as Waldo Leland put it: "...solutions of difficult problems have resulted from the meetings of men in fields so far apart that only chance would have brought them together, who, in discussion of their problems, suddenly found the answer to questions that had baffled them."
That synergy was such a valuable national asset that even though the government had purchased the Club's prime location in 1940, the Club could remain for the ten years it took to find a new home.
The Townsend Mansion emerged as the obvious choice for the Club's new home. Indeed, in 1873 the original structure, Judge Hillyer's house, was built at the edge of town, where Massachusetts Avenue was "little more than a trail."
By 1898, the fashionable Embassy Row had grown up around it. Richard and Mary Scott Townsend bought Judge Hillyer's house and, with the help of Carrere and Hastings, prominent society architects who had designed the celebrated Public Library Building in New York City, they turned it into a grand city mansion, in the style of French royalty, from the Henri II Library to the Louis XVI main hall. Some say the point of the house was to launch their daughter Mathilde into Washington Society. Her picture still holds court outside the Warne Lounge.
Members Horace Peaslee, architect, and Charles Tompkins, General Contractor, guided the mansion through renovation and expansion that had turned it into a truly
Clublike place by 1952.
From the Townsend's staff of 30, the Club now has a staff of almost 150 who cater to the wishes of members and guests.
Meanwhile, some 25 committees work as stewards of the Club's administrative affairs and its dynamic cultural and social activities. They maintain the Club's spirit and continuity, and they oversee the continual upgrading of its facilities.
Games continue as a source of recreation and relaxation, as well as ways to match wits and sharpen the mind.
Leland Howard recalled: "In the early days of this century, it was the custom of many members to spend the time between the close of the official day and dinner at the Club, in discussions with other members, in the Billiard Room.
John Wesley Powell was an avid player, despite the loss of one arm during the Civil War. His special cue stick keeps a place of honor, by the door.
William Henry Holmes, artist, geologist, archeologist, and founding member, established the Cosmos Club as an important exhibition space for paintings... A precedent today's Arts Committee keeps up.
The rooms which were homes away from home for visiting soldiers, scholars, scientists, and humanists, are still homes away from home, albeit with greater comfort, and in some rooms, luxury.
The meeting areas echo with gatherings, a cross roads of ideas, a heritage of debate, and education.
A place for conscious, animated discussion... A place for quiet, for contemplation and research... A place to free the mind through relaxation, through music, art, and conviviality... Or exercise the mind and match wits... A place of discovery... A haven of

I used Free Mind (open source) mind mapping software to put together a chart of the most commonly asked for subjects in children's libraries and we used this as a guide when we converted the collection. Playing with color was how I decided to use color coding for the spine labels as well so that the kids can be empowered as well! There were 2 things we realized were missing - I should have stuck with my instinct and kept a Bedtime section and I forgot Pets (dogs and cats went into Nature). This was the working draft we used. There is another more final version in this set.

Der große See bestimmt nicht nur das Bild der Boom, sondern auch ihre Stimmung. Wie beim Strandurlaub kannst du jene fließende Ruhe des Wassers aufsaugen, die dich sanft umspült.

MUSIK
Über verschiedene Tanzplätze verteilt verwirklicht die Boom ihre psychedelische Vision im Spektrum der hörbaren Frequenzen. Dabei entstehen viele verschiedene Rhythmus- und Harmonie-Texturen die alle darauf abzielen, deine Synapsen zu kitzeln, deine Fantasie zu stimulieren und dich zu beflügeln. Die Klanglandschaften der Boom erstrecken sich auf Genres wie Psytrance, Progressive, Dub, Bass Music, Dubstep, World Music, Glitch, Nu Funk, IDM, Cosmic oder Psy Brakes. TANZTEMPEL
Mit jedem Herzschlag der Boom bebt das portugiesische Hinterland. Im monumentalen Tanztempel verschmelzen utopische Zukunftsvisionen und das archaische Ritual des Stammenstanz zu einer einzigartigen Trance-Erfahrung. Um euer Bewusstsein dorthin zu schicken, wo Worte zu Hülsen und Bedeutungen zu Variablen werden, haben wir einige der besten DJs, Liveacts und Tribal Bands eingeladen, uns mit extralangen Sets zu verzaubern. Denn Qualität ist wichtiger ist als Masse. Mit viel Liebe zum Detail planen wir eine Reise durch jene multidimensionale Welt namens Psy, wobei wir in Regionen wie Dark, Twilight, Forest, Tribal, Prog, Full-On, Groovy Full-On, Goa und Nu-Goa vorstoßen.
Die Grundidee der Boom unterscheidet sich ganz erheblich von der einer kommerziellen Massenproduktion. Wir möchten raus aus dem Schattenreich des Egoismus, hinein in eine kollektive Erfahrung. Mithilfe von DJs, VJs, Dekorateuren, Designern und -am allerwichtigsten- mithilfe von euch, den Boomern. Auf dass wir unsere multikulturelle kreative Energie zu einer wahrhaft großen Erfahrung vereinen: Wir sind eins!
UMWELT
Auf der Boom werden die Erkenntnisse und Prinzipien der Permakultur in ein Festival umgesetzt. So wird ganz konkret erfahrbar: Auch große, internationale Menschenansammlungen lassen sich mit maximalem Respekt vor unserer heiligen Mutter Natur vereinbaren. Dieser Ansatz wurde in den Jahren 2008 und 2010 mit dem Greener Festival Award ausgezeichnet, 2010 und 2012 außerdem mit dem European Festival Award.
Auf der Boom kommen ausschließlich Komposttoiletten zum Einsatz. Das Nutzwasser wird mithilfe von Pflanzen zu 100% wiederaufbereitet. Es gibt kostenlose Taschenaschenbecher. Für die Generatoren wird gebrauchtes Pflanzenöl verwendet. Außerdem nutzen wir Technologien wie Solarenergie, Windräder, Biobau und ökologische Abwasserentsorgung, die jedes Jahr weiterentwickelt werden. Auch hier gilt: Die Boom seid ihr, die Boomer. Tragt bitte dazu bei, dass sie ein nachhaltiges Festival ist. Respektiert Mutter Natur und hinterlasst keinen Müll!

Unser globaler Stamm ist in vielen verschiedenen Ländern zuhause, in denen ganz unterschiedliche Einkommensverhältnisse herrschen. Außerdem leben wir in Zeiten des finanziellen Abschwungs. Wir waren sehr betroffen als wir nach der Boom 2012 hörten, dass einige Menschen schlichtweg nicht genug Geld aufbringen konnten um Teil der kollektiven Erfahrung zu sein. Deshalb haben wir uns entschieden, auf diese Tatsache mit einem flexiblen Eintrittsmodell zu reagieren. Es gibt spezielle Ticketpreise für Länder außerhalb der Europäischen Union, der USA, Kanada, Australien, Neuseeland und Japan. This saturday I left my mind to create without planing, just as it goes. At the begining I even didn't know it will be a ring. I didn't know it will be something at all.
Sometimes it is a best way to execute.
Brass base, copper, freshwater pinkish pearls, 2 tiny seed pearls, keishi silvery pearls, rose quarts at the sides, and moonstones surrounding the pearls at sides.
The size of the focal part of this ring is 5 cm x 2 cm.
The size of this ring is17mm in width. It can be made little bigger or little smaller by taking away or putting on the wire from the ring base.
When I was a child there was a dissected peacock in our livingroom. Its colors fascinated me but the fierce way that it was looking at me made me feel something wild. The same used to happen to me with the leather cow carpet and the goat horns. They made feel so weird and even nowadays I'm feeling the same when I'm in contact with that kind of stuff. But I like them. Or may it be that I like how they make me feel.

An environmentally conscious event is a way to offer a concrete example that it is possible to live on this Planet in respect of Mother Earth and of one another. This is possible through a deep understanding of the cycles of life and humanity’s place within these cycles. Permaculture is a brilliant example of how such understanding can be turned into practice.
Boom’s pioneering Environmental Program applies the principles of Permaculture to every single aspect of the Festival production. Moreover Boom widely promotes knowledge and practices of sustainability through lectures, workshops and… practical example!

STRAND
Nachdem du dich in schwitzende Trance getanzt hast oder wenn dir die Wärme des portugiesischen Sommers zuviel werden sollte: Die nötige Erfrischung ist maximal ein paar hundert Meter entfernt - egal wo du gerade bist. Der große See bestimmt nicht nur das Bild der Boom, sondern auch ihre Stimmung. Wie beim Strandurlaub kannst du jene fließende Ruhe des Wassers aufsaugen, die dich sanft umspült.

Das Liminal Village bietet Gelegenheit, dir dein Oberstübchen neu einzurichten: Mit Lebensphilosophie und praktischem Wissen. Wir waren sehr betroffen als wir nach der Boom 2012 hörten, dass einige Menschen schlichtweg nicht genug Geld aufbringen konnten um Teil der kollektiven Erfahrung zu sein. Deshalb haben wir uns entschieden, auf diese Tatsache mit einem flexiblen Eintrittsmodell zu reagieren. Es gibt spezielle Ticketpreise für Länder außerhalb der Europäischen Union, der USA, Kanada, Australien, Neuseeland und Japan. Außerdem für jene Länder, die aktuell die ökonomischen Spekulationen der Rating-Agenturen und der IMF durchlaufen: Portugal, Irland, Griechenland und Spanien. Diese Tickets sind nur bei den Boom Botschaftern des jeweiligen Landes erhältlich, nicht über die Webseite der Boom.
