'Meriansborstel' [Merians' brush] is probably so named after Maria Sibylla Merian [1647-1717], A German entomologist who the first time studied metamorphosis and the relation between caterpillar, imago and their host plants.
Later she lived in Amsterdam and studied the insects of Surinam. Her major study was "Metamorphosis insectorum Surinamensium".

This storm was building, and I was right along side. Perfect view as she was firing of tons of cloud to cloud lightning. The Shelf cloud was forming right in front of me... It was outflow dominate so no nader warning.. Still...
Now I've caught some incredible lightning this year.. so instead of say it was my best.... It was simply JAW DROPPING FREAKING INCREDIBLE AWESOME DELICIOUS lightning.

I hate doing dishes and since it's june 19th .. I decided to freak out and rock a bit instead
And for you none Icelanders... On june 19th 1915 women in iceland got the right to vote.
This rock formation is Named after the Fantastic Furry Freak Brothers "underground" comics (there were three Freak Brothers). The formation is in the Wonderland of Rocks area of Joshua Tree National Park, and is used by hikers as a navigation point in an area that's a jumble of boulders and washes and no clearly defined trails. I used Nik Silver Efex 2 for the B&W conversion and Luminar 4 for the sky. HSS and Happy New Year!
Dropped out to Hill 60 on the way to work this morning .. lot of cloud hoped the sun might peek thru .. ahh well may'be next time.

taken 27th Jan 2007 . This one started right above my head I shot it on 12mm at 5 minutes waiting for a strike.Couldnt see properly after, it blinded me it was so bright

Several days ago, when I sat down at the computer, expecting to be greeted by the peaceful lake scene that is my desktop image, I was instead slapped in the face by wild patterns of lines, dots and squares splashed across my screen.
Needless to say, my first reaction was to freak out.
Fortunately, it turned out to be a tired video card that needed replacement, at no cost, by my local Apple store. While the puter was in the shop, I figured I might as well juice it up a bit by adding another gig of memory and a second internal drive, to accommodate all those images that are eating up the space on the old drive.
In the meanwhile, I had to do without my primary computer workstation for several days, including no Photoshop and flickr. I have to say, the respite was rather nice in some ways. Taking a break from ComputerLand can be a good thing, don’t you think?
I seem to be back to normal functioning, and will begin uploading pics soon…
Jack, after finding out some fur coats sold in stores are unlabeled/mislabeled cat fur!
