Female professionals in the Southern and Eastern Mediterranean region experience significant obstacles to their participation in the justice sector. Barriers include discriminatory legal frameworks, gender-biased enforcement, limited justice sector capacity, and social and cultural norms that perpetuate inequalities.

Yet women are finding ways to overcome these hurdles, and several countries have seen ground-breaking developments. In Morocco, women justice professionals were instrumental in reforming the Personal Status Law. Jordan’s women judges represented 18% of the judicial corps in 2014 – a number that has been steadily increasing since the first female judge was appointed in 1996. Tunisia was already a regional leader in 2010, with women justice professionals accounting for 42.8% of judges.

History

The theater was built on the grounds of the former Palais Nathaniel Rothschild as succession building of Franz-Domes home. Its foundation was described as a special concern of individual leading functionaries of the Chamber of Labour. The postmodern architectural style by architect Rudolf Jarosch initially was discussed controversially and, for example, referred to as a "functionary Baroque" or Palazzo Prozzo. The house (without own ensemble) but has established itself as a fixture in the cultural life of Vienna. Three theater halls (the actual theater with proscenium stage and 455 seats, the podium, an auditorium with 384 seats and the studio) are available. The programming focuses on current social topics: theater, concerts, cabaret, children's events, readings but also intercultural programs are offered. A mix of well-known artists and young talents yielded in 2008 an occupancy rate of 86.06% and a capital coverage ratio of 71%.

Geschichte

The hardworking team behind the preparation of the United Nations Development Assistance Framework (UNDAF)

Josep Borrell, Spanish Minister of Foreign Affairs, Former Italian and French Prime ministers, Giuliano Amato and Jean-Marc Ayrault, Louise Arbour, UN Special Representative for International Migration supported by more than 30 well-know international academics send message in New York that the world still needs migrants.

Calling on world leaders in the context of the UN General Assembly, European think tank The Foundation for European Progressive Studies (FEPS) presented its groundbreaking strategy for a new global migration policy based on the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration

Taking place after the Salzburg EU summit, where EU leaders showed their unity on Brexit and their division on migration, the Call for a different migration offered for the first time a global progressive narrative. This counter narrative by opposition to the current debate on migration assumes in particular, to use and define clearly such words as borders, security or identity, which have been captured by right wing populists for so long now. Contributors underlined also how leaders such Orban or Salvini have been instrumentalising migration for their nationalist cause and are not looking for a solution.
