A conference on the topic of “Water and Sustainable Development” was held in 13 March 2014, in the framework of UNDP and Ministry of Emergency Situations joint project on “Integrating Climate Change Risks into Water and Flood Management by Vulnerable Mountainous Commuinities in the Gretaer Caucasus Region””.

 

Mr. Mezahir Efendiyev, Project Manager of UNDP, opening the conference, stressed the big role of the organization in preparation of water resources protection as well as water and flood management mechanisms.

 

Mr. Antonius Broek, UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative,by giving an appreciation to the organization of the conference on Water and sustainable development on the occasion of the World Water Day Eve, mentioned the prioritization of the protection and efficient utilization of water resources in the Post-2015 Development Agenda.

 

Mr. Baba Azakov, Head of State Water Resources Agency, mentioned the importance of efficient utilization of freshwater resources in Azerbaijan, and highlighted the perception of the issue and implementation of necessary actions. Mr. Eyvaz Gurbanov, Head of Regional Executive Power of Oguz, welcomed participants and offered his organization’s assistance in any necessary issues related to the implementation of the project.

 

The conference continued with presentations of special experts and discussions. Staff of the project, representatives of partner organizations, international and local experts, Regional Executive Powers, international and non-governmental organizations participated in the conference. Participants were informed about World Water Day topic and perception of water significance of international community in the Post-2015 development agenda.

 

The World Water Day is held annually on March 22 to grab attention to the importance of drinkable water resources and its advocacy to sustainable management .

Chainstay bridge. The joint is not properly brazed/attached (note thin separating crack on the outer edge of the solder). Eventually the whole bridge fell off. Other issues (with bad alignment) meant the whole frame had to be scrapped :(
