In the framework of the joint project on "Empowering Rural Women in Social and Economic Life" between UNDP and State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Women Resource Center was opened in Sabirabad city. The Center will serve as a mechanism in exchanging knowdledge and information to help in improvement social business opportunities of rural women.

Victim assistance needs to be integrated into broader disability, development and human rights frameworks. But what does this notion of integration mean in practical terms? This event presented the experience of Handicap International, as well as that of a broad range of other actors, in bridging the gap between efforts taken in the context of victim assistance and those in the context of the CRPD, showing how both advance the common goal of inclusion of persons with disabilities, including mine and other ERW survivors, in a human-rights compliant manner.

On May 25, 2018, students from Halsey Academy, Dwyer Academy, Jefferson Academy, Elizabeth High School, Winfield Scott School No. 2 and Joseph Battin School No. 4 attended the Elizabeth Forum, held at the Elizabeth Public Library. The Forum, sponsored by the Elizabeth Historical Society and Future Cities, focused on the history of Elizabeth through the framework of transportation. The “journey” started with the first colonial road, King’s Highway, completed in 1735, linking cities such as Elizabeth, Boston, MA and Charleston, SC, and finished with the establishment of Elizabeth as a hub for transportation, shipping and air travel. Moderated by Stanley Neron, Elizabeth School Board Commissioner, students from the six schools were able to interact with the President of the Elizabeth Historical Society, Ken Ward, Union County Freeholder Angel Estrada and City Councilman Manuel Grova about Elizabeth’s past, present and future in a very informative and lively exchange.
The workshop was organized in Great Rift Valley Lodge, in Naivasha,Kenya, from 25 to 28 January 2016. It gathered a various range of stakeholders from the six participating countries to discuss the implementation of component 2,3 and 4 of the project.
