The workers worked a fourteen hour day in cramped noisy and dangerous conditions. Pay was so poor it led to the Luddite rebellion of 1811.
The movement began in Arnold (a suburb of Nottingham) a spread rapidly over the next two years.

The Government of the day responded by sending in troops to protect the workshops and a Bill in parliament was proposed to make the breaking of frames punishable by death!

An updated version of my previous Helm's Deep model (www.flickr.com/photos/138905279@N08/30111536931) that I built for Bricks Cascade 2017. The main thing I changed was all the rockwork on the right. I started from scratch, and rebuilt most of it using a strong internal framework and tons of mixel joints. It was actually very strong and didn't fall apart at all during transportation! Some other minor things were tweaked and fixed, and I added more elves and men. Overall, it turned out much better than the BrickCon version IMO and I'm happy to have it finished! :)
