Chania (Hania) ist für die Kreter die schönste Stadt der Insel. Sie ist nach Heraklion die zweitgrößte Stadt auf Kreta und zieht die meisten Touristen an.

Nothing better than a sunny day and time waiting for a train to make some demonstrative photos with this great 75mm lens : Cosina Voigtländer Heliar Classic 75mm / f 1.8. Although a bit soft when at full aperture it gives some very sharp and contrasty images at around f5.6 [rb_241022_000031920035]
Last one from the snowy morning shoot. Cropped from portrait to landscape view keeping the upper half of the original shot. Initial idea didn't work out especially well, so this is the saved version of the original.
Man, was this a trip!!!
We like to travel Europe by car and spend the time in it by listening an audiobook. This time we did The Face by Dean Koontz - a story that takes place in the "legendary Bel Air estate" - a palace that sports a retro car club, and where the interior is decorated with black and white portraits of Hollywood celebrities...
On our return trip back to Latvia from Portugal (yes, insane) we got offered to stay at a place in rural France - an offer we simply could not refuse! So we drove to this place whilst listening to the mysteries Koontz had cooked up in his often beautifully twisted mind, and arrived at a... get this: Palace in a sizeable realestate! A tour was made of the place we'll be staying, and as I approached the crooked and sagging stairwell of the servant house, I noticed a peculiar peculiarity: walls are lined with B&W Hollywood headshots!!! Umm, is this real?
Let's just sleep on this.
The next day we started by exploring the estate, and at the end of the tour we arrived at some beautiful retro cars parked next to the PALACE THAT HAS ITS OWN RETRO CAR CBLUB.
Wa?...
Turns out that fellow Latvians basically run the place. A joke escaped me that it could be nice to drive one! "Which car would you like?" was the response or something like that. Jeesus! Which one? How about that Jaguar? That beautiful Lotus? That huge Daimler limousine with two gas tanks? Or those other beauties I don't even recognise? Well, I put my GF to make the choice, so we ended up driving a couple of miles through the beautiful rural France and hearing that hungry two-tank fed beast of an engine roaring in oldscool Daimler was just... melting :) So here she is, my beautiful, driving on the gravel roads of France. I did drive too and it was just something - a moment to cherish for sure. Especially for a person still without drivers licence... Ahh, the little joys of Anarchy : D

One of my favorite groves of oak trees, taken in Old School Forest Preserve. I've never been able to take a good photo of it until recently.
