Hopefully Southport council will realise what they are leaving to rot and will call in the roofers and bandstand repairers before too long. There aren't many Lion Foundry model no.23 examples left in the world, and this is the least loved of the three I've visited so far.

On October 20, 2013, Brooks members visited the Lugar Foundry in Arlington, TN–a remarkable combination of studios, workshops, and sculpture garden. Here they learned about lost-wax casting, wandered through an enchanting grove of bamboo, and to met the talented Lugar family.

Furnace is fired using only charcoal and an air mattress inflator. Takes about 15-20 minutes to get to temp (1200+ degrees F).

The furnace is an old 5 gal. roofing tar bucket with a homemade refractory mix keeping it "cool".

i have had conversations with multiple people about how possibly every grate in the u.s. is made in neenah, wisconsin... and as i was walking along downtown i just got more proof!
