A Momentary Lapse. Site-specific time based installation, unfired clay, water, vinegar, street trash. Originally installed in sites

around New York City in May of 2008, the objects are slip cast earthen ware and are installed as unfired objects

that disintegrate into the landscape of the city.

The hand is, of course, photoshopped in. This was at the last point of the English coast that would have been visible as the slave ships left for the Atlantic crossing.

Sculpture.

Reeds, driftwood, shells, twine.

17.5 x 2.5 x 8.5 in.

Completed: 8/2011

 

Extra information:

With the exception of the twine, all materials were found at the beach.

Site specific installation and a photographic series. Created from Herand porcelain while at residency at the

International Ceramics studio at Kecskemét, Hungary. Installed in the doorway of an abandoned building in Klauzál

tér downtown Pest, Budapest, Hungary.

I limited the materials for this collage to items I collected while traveling to New York City. During the trip I was pick-pocketed at Rocco's on Bleaker Street.
