(150 sheets are 25% cotton white resume paper, 24 lb.; 150 sheets are terrestrial teal paper, 24 lb. - from Astrobrights, Wausau Paper Printing & Writing, L.L.C.)

made from white resume paper, terrestrial teal paper, cotton thread (with coptic stitch binding) and elastic; cover is made from a recycled gift bag, binder board and white resume paper (on inside cover)

the elastic used for this project was originally white, so i mixed light yellow green acrylic paint, pure yellow acrylic paint and white acrylic paint until i got a color to match the covers... then i mixed the (1 part) paint with 2 parts water for about 2-3 hours... when it was completely dry, i stretched the elastic to get rid of any stiffness; the white cotton thread used for the binding was soaked in the same acrylic paint/water mixture for about 1-2 hours... when it was completely dry, i waxed the thread with beeswax

Cringe alert, read no further if you don't think you're up for this:

If athletes get athlete's foot, do astronauts get mistletoe?

I know it's an old and juvenile joke but I couldn't resist. I found this bit of mistletoe in the town of Locke located in the Sacramento River Delta.

Meet John Long, Artist in Wood, Newfane, Vermont

On a sweltering July day last weekend, we headed up to Wickford, Rhode Island to an Arts Festival we had not attended in years, as the work had become too traditional for our tastes. However, "never say never" and off we went, being rewarded with the stunning creations of this warm and friendly Vermonter!

From his bio, I quote:

"A self taught artist, having no formal training, John has become one of the only artists in his medium to capture the admiration of the public, collectors, and interior designers.

John's unique "wall sculptures" are made entirely from very old weathered boards from barns.

No paint, color or texture has been added to any surface, as only "found" material is used."

Please treat yourself to John's John's amazing workspace in this remarkable video! I'm not going to say anymore about this lovable, creative guy, other than he also hails from my home state of Pennsylvania and was drooling when I mentioned shoo fly pie!

His work speaks for itself.

Three rings made from sterling silver and organic material found on Sanibel Island, Florida. The tall one is sea oats, the one lying down is live oak, and I don't know what the third one is. The pod caps on the live oak ring is cast sterling from the real pods. One-of-a-kind.

I found this slightly-too-small billiard ball in a pond when I was about 10 and have kept it ever since. I was originally going to do something with the left-hand slice, marked "10" and polished. Then I had the idea of carving one of the slices.
