Part of a large batch of vintage negatives I purchased at an estate sale. They seem to be mostly NJ, 1930s and 1940s. If you recognize a building, please comment and let me know where it is.

3rd remix of material from D.O.A (1950). Shamefully the band aren’t credited in the film. As I understand it they are: James Streeter (sax), Shifty Henry (bass), Al "Cake" Wichard (drums), Ray LaRue (piano), and Teddy Buckner (trumpet) but the actual sounds heard are from a second, later, recording of another band under the direction of sax player Maxwell Davis. Found this beauty pushing its way out of the ground today while I was at work. :)

(Viewing Large Works Well)

I found my tripod today :) L A R G E This was shot while standing in my front doorway - with a telephoto lens. This made Explore :) Thanks for the inspiration Gary (see comment below in Update).

This was actually an experiment...I have a hard time getting a sharp focus on objects far away after dark even when using a remote; however, I have not shot using "mirror up" and need to try that. I'm also aware both my camera and lens need major cleaning. Night shots are tricky...I was hoping to get the stars but...have not figured out how to get the mountain showing which will be in complete darkness by then and the stars. I have recently seen some photos on flickr recently that have me puzzled...showing Mt. Hood during sunset and all peachy orange but also showing stars even though it was shot at 7:38 pm which it is completely dark by then. I have an inquiring mind and really would love to know how that was done.

Update: I sent the photographer an email about that photo and he responded! He was very nice and explained how he did it and the photo is not HDR. His name is Gary Randall. Check out his work - exceptional images. I'm sure you will immediately recognize the photo I am in awe over - plus it was Front Page on Explore.

This may be a copy of a commercial image. The slide mount preprinted on one side reads: "Ray Atkeson Scenic Views. Byers Color Laboratory Portland, Oregon." And typed on the other side, "A-77 Indians Fishing At Celilo Falls, Oregon."

Color and contrast in photography, inspired by the Master of Manipulated Color, the great Pete Turner

Tanah Lot was founded by the Javanese priest Danghyang Nirartha in the 16th century. Legend has it that he slept on the site one evening, and afterwards suggested that the Balinese build a sacred temple on that spot. The temple is one of the six cardinal temples in Bali that are strung out in a line down the west coast, and on a clear day you can see all the way to another cardinal temple, Pura Uluwatu on the southwestern coast of the Bukit Peninsula. As one of Bali’s many sea temples that are meant to honor the gods and goddesses of the ocean, this is a sacred site that is revered by many Balinese Hindus.

Found this recipe on a foodnetwork show called The Pioneer Woman hosted by Ree Drummond. (Episode: The Drummond Bunch). My directions are on the photo. You can find the original directions by Ree Drummond below. Enjoy!

EGG-IN-A-HOLE

2011 Ree Drummond, All Rights Reserved

www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/ree-drummond/egg-in-a-hole-re...

Prep Time: 3 min

Inactive Prep Time: --

Cook Time: 2 min

Level: Easy

Serves: 1 egg-in-the-hole

INGREDIENTS:

1 slice of your favorite kind of bread

1 tablespoon butter

1 egg

Salt and freshly ground black pepper

DIRECTIONS:

With a biscuit cutter or the rim of a glass, press a hole in the center of the slice of bread.

Heat a skillet over medium-low heat and melt in the butter.

When the butter is all spread out, place the piece of bread in the skillet and crack the egg straight into the center of the hole.

Cook until the egg sets a bit on the bottom, 30 to 45 seconds.

Sprinkle the egg with salt and pepper.

After about a minute, flip it over with a spatula and salt and pepper the other side.

Move the whole piece of toast around the skillet, soaking up all of the glorious butter.

Let it cook until the yolk feels soft.

Here's the key: golden brown toast, white (not brown/burned) whites, soft unbroken yolk.

Perfect.

"Paisajes Encontrados" · La obra trata de creer en la sensibilidad contemporánea capaz de asimilar los retales obsoletos de nuestra cultura, y recuperarlos a través de un proceso de reinterpretación, alteración y redefinición de su significado. Colonizar espacios en desuso, estableciendo un nuevo orden. Reciclar la ciudad y el paisaje, reciclar la arquitectura.
