A few items leftover from a couple of photos I did this week. I had just mounted a newly arrived used 25mm f:1.4 Panasonic on the E-M1 and as I was testing it out I saw these laying on the mirror and took a snap.

The highlight of my recent trip to Panama, in Central America, was seeing this immature but nonetheless spectacular Harpy Eagle high up in a bare tree. For nearly an hour we watched it preening and calling to its parents as it waited impatiently to be fed. It is the largest and most powerful raptor found in the rainforest, and among the largest extant species of eagles in the world.

The journey to this remote location in eastern Panama involved nearly an hour in a minibus, followed by 45 minutes in a motorised canoe on a fast-running river in the dark, 45 minutes in a 4x4 on rough roads, then a trek through the jungle on muddy tracks for nearly two hours. On the way, one of our sharp-eyed guides saved me from stepping on a highly venomous pit viper! The return journey was less eventful, but the whole experience will never be forgotten.

Thanks for your visit… Any comment you make on my photograph is greatly appreciated and encouraging! But please do not use this image without permission.

I found this flower in a sandy well-drained area where vegetation is rather sparse. Id help appreciated.

This South African Chameleon was shot in Entabeni Game Reserve. The last animal we found on our trip. And for me as a reptile lover, this was a great find. Enjoy.

Possibly Salem, Oregon.

Negatives I was given.

Mantodea or mantises is an order of insects that contains approximately 2,200 species in nine families worldwide in temperate and tropical habitats. Most of the species are in the family Mantidae. Historically, the term "mantid" was used to refer to any member of the order because for most of the past century, only one family was recognized within the order; technically, however, the term only refers to this one family, meaning the species in the other eight recently established families are not mantids, by definition (i.e., they are empusids, or hymenopodids, etc.), and the term "mantises" should be used when referring to the entire order. A colloquial name for the order is "praying mantises", because of the typical "prayer-like" stance, although the term is often misspelled as "preying mantis" since mantises are predatory. In Europe, the name "praying mantis" refers to Mantis religiosa. The closest relatives of mantises are the orders Isoptera (termites) and Blattodea (cockroaches), and these three groups together are sometimes ranked as an order rather than a superorder. They are sometimes confused with phasmids (stick/leaf insects) and other elongated insects such as grasshoppers and crickets.

I found this one at Sylhet, Bangladesh. After sunset, these are found in plenty at Sylhet. Thanks everyone for viewing and your comments are largely appreciated!!

Found this tiny Crab Spider on a patch of Bryum sp. Any idea about its ID?

Size: 4mm approx

Only found out about this last min as someone posted a pic on Facebook as soon as it passed him at Crewe! It waited in Stockport forever then eventually left for Buxton.

Unfortunately the roads were trecherous and to add insult to injury trucks had jack knifed and got stuck from Dove Holes onwards so that was it for the chase unfortunately i got stuck behind the mayhem up there for hours and when i eventually managed to slide all the way to Buxton station it wasn't needed there as there was very little snow on the lines so i'm guessing it went to Dowlow?? As i checked P.F and also there the tracks were clear!

Good to of seen them thou atleast and as far as i'm aware these Beilhack's have never treversed the Manchester or Buxton line before....

Many Thanks to Bob Ranger for the "Gen.. Appreciated kid ;-)

Cheers, Jon.

Thanks for the visits, comments and favourites. Have a great week ahead!

This is a wild fox that found a chocolate coated treat as it wandered the trail. Seem to relish it. Wow. Near St. John's, NL, Canada.

Found Kodachrome slide dated June 1963. At first I was going to call this "What's wrong with this picture?". Initially I thought the blue Ford 105e was badly parked, but on closer inspection I see it is emerging from the side-road left of shot. But right on the junction is a pedestrian crossing! I don't know where this was taken, but wherever it was I'm sure it's been changed now!
