I've never really been a fan of zoom lenses but this lens is so crazy good - it might sway me.

I know it doesn't look like it, but this was actually a really dull+grey day and I was wide open here [or close to it] so the corners are a all bit smeary and 'characterful'. But this lens is so small, versatile and pretty much in factory/mint condition - for only $35.00 - you can't complain 😍.

Foster is originally from Cleveland, Ohio and moved to Nashville this year to join the Gibson Garage family. Foster has been playing the guitar for 7 years and is drawn to classic rock, blues, 90s alternative. Foster’s favorite bands are Led Zeppelin, Alice in Chains, Guns N Roses, and Red Hot Chili Peppers, but his main inspirations are Jimmy Page, Slash and Jimi Hendrix.

Foster’s favorite part of working at the Gibson Garage is selling Custom Shop Murphy Lab guitars, but seeing someone just light up over any instrument is the best part of the job!

Vladimir Makovsky was born in Moscow in 1846. His father was one of the founders of Moscow School of Arts, Sculpture and Architecture. There was always a creative atmosphere in the family of the future artist: painters, musicians and actors were frequent guests there. Makovsky demonstrated his talents in arts in his early years. His first teacher of painting was the famous Russian portrait painter Vasily Tropinin. In 1861, Makovsky became a student of Moscow School of Arts, Sculpture and Architecture. Soon he became a member of the Itinerants partnership, which promoted realistic depiction of the life of ordinary people. Genre paintings by Makovsky are the most typical pieces of art of this partnership.

Vladimir Makovsky, who was proficient in genre painting, created it in 1905-1906. Before the 1917 Revolution, the author’s friends – Shikhobalov family, merchants and patrons of arts from Samara – were the owners. The artist often took topics for his work from real life, and this is true about Two Mothers as well. Vladimir Makovsky referred to similar story that happened in the family of an artist he knew.

Vladimir Makovsky said: “The painting is not a word, it gives you one minute, and everything should be clear within this minute. If this is not so, there is no painting”. In Makovsky’s painting, the future destiny of a little boy is being shaped. His natural mother after giving birth left her son in an orphanage, and a well-to-do family took the boy and raised him. The foster parents adopted the baby with great warmth and lavished attention and care on him.

The painting depicts the visit of an unknown woman, who happens to be the natural mother of the boy disturbing the family idyll. The unexpected guest bursts into the room interrupting the family breakfast. Her clothes tell us about her peasant origin. This woman is wearing a dark homespun skirt with a brindled apron showing from beneath. A bright red kerchief is covering her head. This peasant woman is holding a small canvas sack in her left hand.

In a masterly fashion, Vladimir Makovsky conveyed the appalment and fear of the little boy sheepishly clinging to his foster mother, who has already become his family. The woman appearing in the house is just a stranger for him. The only person who is keeping calm is the head of the family. Contrary to his wife and foster son, he is sure that the natural mother will not succeed in taking the boy away. His firmness is contrasting to the tension predominating in the painting.

We went to our local bait shop to find a couple of cute kittens in the need of a good home. They were found in a box in the alley, apparently their mother was a stray. The owner of the store had been caring for them for the past week and I have decided to take them and care for them until I find them a home. I still have to bottle feed them and it so cute to watch them nurse on the kitten bottle! Aren't they are adorable?

Fosters cans crushed and pushed into bench.

The night was pretty good especially once we figured out that Odin likes a night light. After that, he was quiet and slept the night in his crate. He loves Lacie and seems to want to be close to us but still cringes with any human contact. Baby steps will be needed to gain his trust. If I want him to go anywhere I still have to carry him. Being that he must weigh about 30 pounds or more, I am getting a workout. Overall he is a very sweet boy and will make for a wonderful addition to some lucky family.

Below Foster Falls, the Potato River splits and two small branches flow around a couple islands before rejoining the main channel a couple hundred feet downstream. This is one of the branches where it re-enters the river.

These foster kittens from the animal shelter were found earlier this week. Already they are quite playful and difficult to photograph!

Friday Foster is a 1975 blaxploitation film, written and directed by Arthur Marks, and starring Pam Grier in the title role. Yaphet Kotto co-starred. It was an adaptation of the eponymous syndicated newspaper comic strip that had run from 1970 until 1974.

Plot Summary:

Friday Foster (Grier) is a magazine photographer who refuses to heed her boss's admonitions against becoming involved in the stories to which she is assigned. After witnessing an assassination attempt on the nation's wealthiest African-American and then seeing her best friend murdered, Friday finds herself targeted for death. She teams up with private detective Colt Hawkins (Kotto) to investigate, and soon, the two are hot on the trail of plot to eliminate the country's African-American political leadership.

In addition to the standard blaxploitation plot elements, the film also dealt with the themes of the power and importance of African-American political unity and the potential threat thereto posed not only by the perceived white power structure, but also by those African-Americans willing to betray that goal in search of reward from that establishment.
