Dave Brubeck - Take Five

Taken in Foster, Canada on Lac Brome. This station was part of the South Eastern Railway, the line through Foster was acquired by Canadian Pacific, which built the current station in 1887. The station was closed in the late 1970s, it is now the Lac-Brome Tourist Bureau.

(All six, I believe, but one gray girl isn't easily seen.)

Out of the litter of six, there were two smaller than the rest: Cindy Lou and Thing Two. Cindy Lou continues to be a petite girl, but Thing Two? Not so much. The foster family worked so hard to keep Thing Two well-fed that she actually has passed her brother (Thing One) in weight. A peek under the tail is the most reliable way to tell Thing One and Thing Two apart for now, but their faces do differ slightly.

Southern Shorthaul Railroad's C506/C510/C504/C507 drop downgrade through Fosters Corner, near Belair in the Adelaide Hills with 2503S loaded grain from Tailem bend to Crystal Brook on 30 October 2018.

Very exciting seeing a C class multi unit lash up in the Adelaide Hills for the first time in over 20 years.

This year I was lucky enough to catch the giant rabble of monarch butterfiles resting at Fort Foster on their migration south. By the way, a group of butterfiles is called a "rabble" or "swarm", although I like "rabble" more.

Last night I could either watch the Cubs' Triple-A farm team get destroyed by the Nationals or hang out on an empty El platform taking pictures. Obvious call.

Composite of four shots. A 5 sec shot of the station and background with no trains and two 8 sec shots of the left and right El trains leaving the station. I also blended a second shot of the left train arriving with a luminous mask in order to add in the nice headlight trails.

UPDATE 050409 - He's staying and I've named him Louie!

02-28-09: This is Cat (real name Chuey)- he literally walked in my back door a couple of weeks ago. After a few days, I did find his owner, Miss Carrie. She's going through a tough stretch right now, so I'm fostering Cat until she's back on her feet.

He's a beautiful blue gray kitty with a bad right eye, sweet as can be and loves my blanket!

My BBC (Big Black Cat) Bear passed away in July 2007, and my Yorkie Maxie (the dog in my icon photo) passed away in April 2008. Lately I've been dreaming of my first Yorkie baby Cricket, who died in Sept 1999 (I don't have any digital photos of her but will scan some old ones). I think she's been telling me something...

Anyway, Cat has a safe place to stay for a while, and I think he's smiling a bit in this picture. His mom needs a break right now, and I'm giving it to her. Hope she holds up her end of the bargain...

I hope to get more pictures of Cat but as most kitties, he doesn't pose well.

Hello! So I just wanted to share something that happened to my family on Friday (Nov. 20) So my family had been fostering a sibling group of 4, ages 5, 3, 1, and a month old. They'd been with us for 2 weeks when Friday afternoon we got a surprise call that they were going to stay with their grandma and we had to drop them off in 2 hours. Usually they give you a weeks notice to prepare your heart and mind for giving up a child you love dearly. Not the case with us though, we had to give up a part of our hearts when we gave those children to their grandma. God has taught us a lot during the past 3 days about trusting Him! Through all the tears we've been reminded that He's always with us no matter what! The picture is that last one I took with the month old before we dropped him off!

This is a kitten in foster care that is way to young to be put up for adoption.

Sometimes it just takes a wrong turn to see beauty at its best.
