The Wills Climate and Environment Advisory Group met with Peter Khalil MP on 6 August 2024 and again highlighted the 12 new Fossil fuel projects Labor has approved since May 2022, continuing fossil fuel subsidies running at $14.5billion per year, and the need for a Climate Trigger in national environment laws. Prime Minister Anthony Albanese proposed a climate trigger against dangerous climate change in 2005. So Labor know what needs doing. The latest climate Action tracker assessment from 23 December 2023 also assessed Australia’s climate finance as critically insufficient.
End Dependence (on Fossil Fuels) Day
Sacramento, CA - July 4, 2023
On End Dependence Day, The Last Chance Alliance, Oil and Gas Action Network, Women With Bows and many other Environmental and Social Justice groups, came together at the state capitol in Sacramento with a 12 "Oil Derrick" art installation. They called on Governor Gavin Newsom to: End Dependence on fossil fuels, stop approving new fossil fuel projects and stop all drilling near homes, schools and hospitals.
Climate Justice groups teamed up with groups working on indigenous rights, racial justice, LGBTQ issues, homelessness, poverty, immigrant rights, and more for a Community Unity Gathering to demand Newsom ’end-dependence’ on fossil fuels and highlight the needs of the community!

Resist the Pipeline
Activist gather for a regional training for the growing movement of water-based fossil fuel resistance in the Pacific Northwest. The purpose of the gathering is to strengthen on-water resistance to Kinder Morgan's Trans Mountain Pipeline expansion. The project directly threatens the health of our local communities and ecosystems, as well as global climate. The camp is presented by the Mosquito Fleet in partnership with Greenpeace.
Terry Christenson, a 70-year-old grandfather of two and a former Juno nominee, scaled a tree on the inside of Kinder Morgan's Westbridge Terminal fence and erected a mid-fair camp suspended from its trunk. It is the latest round of activists protests at the Kinder Morgan site. Indigenous Peoples, senior citizens and members of Greenpeace founding families block the front gates to Kinder Morgan’s construction site on Burnaby Mountain.in British Columbia. In solidarity with Coast Salish communities, they aim to show the world that Canada is going down the wrong path on climate and on reconciliation with Indigenous Nations in building this pipeline.
On May 31st New Yorkers from across the city are going to be descending on the Clean Energy Standard hearing in lower Manhattan to help spark a renewable energy revolution in the Empire State. We need you there with us for our climate, our economy, and the city we love. This is the big one.

Washington DC, Saturday April 29, 2017. Tens of thousands of climate justice activists gathered near the U.S. Capitol for a march to the White House. The very large group circled the White House and staged a brief symbolic 'sit in'. Shamed, President Donald J. Trump escaped to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania for yet another campaign style rally with the suckers who voted for him.
Activists sent a message to Congress to stop West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin and New York Senator Chuck Schumer's Dirty Deal that would fast track oil, gas, and coal projects. The deal could sacrifice lives and the health of communities, silence voices by gutting environmental reviews and public comment, and sabotage the chance for a livable future.

West Virginians brought together by Greenpeace USA, Race Matters West Virginia, Young West Virginia, Rise Up West Virginia, Black By God West Virginia, Call to Action for Racial Equality West Virginia, and CPD Action joined forces on land and sea around Joe Manchin’s yacht to demand that he support much-needed investments into healthcare, climate action, and jobs in the Build Back Better Act.

Scientists and engineers utilize the Mechanical Testing Laboratory to determine the mechanical behavior and performance of advanced materials under temperatures and pressures commonly associated with fossil energy systems. The focus of this work is to develop novel materials with enhanced performance characteristics. The laboratory is equipped to test a material’s ability to withstand cyclical mechanical loads for a large number of cycles and resulting crack growth behavior of materials at temperatures up to 1200 °C. The laboratory has the capability to evaluate a material’s ability to withstand static mechanical loads for long periods of time at temperatures up to 1100 °C. Additionally, the lab can test a material’s compressive and tensile strength—the resistance to breaking under tension—from room temperature to 1200 °C, as well as impact testing and hot-hardness testing.

June 24 2016: The Clean Energy Revolution marchers advocated an immediate ban on fracking, ending the use of fossil fuels, stopping the use of all dirty energy sources, a transition to 100% renewables and environmental justice for all.
This image, one of several that were made available to Greenpeace by anonymous workers, shows smoke and fire on the shallow-water Abkatun-A Permanente platform in the Campeche Sound in the Gulf of Mexico. The explosion and fire early on April 1, 2015 killed four people and sent terrified workers leaping into the sea. State-run oil company Petroleos Mexicanos, or Pemex, said the blast injured 16 workers, two seriously, and forced the evacuation of 300. The shallow water rig was in the Gulf of Mexico off the coast of Ciudad del Carmen.

ANACORTES, WASHINGTON, USA -- Friday May 13th, 2016. Activists set up a blockade encampment on the train tracks leading to the oil refineries in Anacortes. Thousands of people began converging in Anacortes, WA, as part of the global climate mobilization Break Free. Many are now risking arrest by engaging in peaceful civil disobedience to highlight the moral urgency of immediate action to combat climate change. Anacortes is home to two fossil fuel refineries owned by Shell and Tesoro. These refineries are the largest unaddressed source of carbon pollution in the Northwest and they refine 47% of all the gas and diesel used in the region. Break Free Pacific Northwest events will continue throughout the weekend.

The Greenpeace Ship Arctic Sunrise visits Anacortes and displays a "No Supertanker Highway" message for the oil refinery and the tankers at the facility. The ship is on a tour following the route that would experience a seven-fold increase in tar sands tanker oil traffic if the pipeline expansion is completed. The report documents the communities threatened by the Trans Mountain Expansion Project, which would worsen the effects of global warming, risk poisoning water, jeopardize the hundreds of thousands of jobs that depend on clean coasts, violate Indigenous sovereignty, and threaten the extinction of the Southern Resident Orca Whale, of which only 75 remain.
