I suppose there's no shortage of images of the sea/beach/waves, I've always loved water, when I was young I worked on a boat and lived close to the beach. These days I live 200 miles from the coast and only get to it maybe twice a year. One thing has never left me, how beautiful the motion, transparency, changing color and reflections are. The glints of sparkling light from every little foaming bubble fascinates me, so I can't help but try to catch it in an image.

Trinh had on a blue shirt with yellow underneath and I had on a yellow shirt with blue underneath. The title on this picture is a nerdy joke for molecular biologists. :-p

Clyde from Medford - tip O the hat
I just wrote and posted this on my personal blog to inspire anyone who comes
across it and I thought this was something everyone should read. Simply
replace the term journalist and camera with something else.
Set the camera down for a second. Because I know my "audience", this isn't a
ridiculous request. What I'm about to say may sound preachy. You may not
want to hear it but, it needs to be asked. When were you last a human first?
It's terribly easy to get caught up in being a journalist and believing that
can be your sole contribution to the world. I have sad news friends, it's
not good enough. How many people have actually ever made a difference in the
world with a camera? Sure, a single frame has changed the course of the
world for good before (a man by the name of Eddie Adams comes to mind), but
how often does it regularly occur? With technology being the way it is, and
consumers having the same tools we as professionals have, the distinct
advantage we once had is diminishing. Should you quit striving to obtain
that next image that changes the world? Not at all. Do you want to make sure
that in some manner you make a difference in at least one person's life?
There's an easy way to ensure that this has the best possible chance at
happening. BE A HUMAN FIRST! Feel the feelings you encounter everyday. Live
the lives that your subjects live. Love the way man was meant to
love...passionately.
I realize that I'm not the most eloquent person in the world. Heck,
sometimes I even have a hard time getting my point across to people in
everyday conversation. I have realized though that there are two things that
translate perfectly to any language. The first, of course, is music...you
know, the kind without words in it. The next and, until recently, the less
obvious of the two, is emotion. People around the world feel the same
feelings we do. By we I mean Americans. Many would argue that some people,
depending on their geographic location of course, feel pain or joy to a
larger degree than we do.
So where do these feelings come from? Could be the fact that I've been
living alone for the first time in my life. Could be the forced seclusion
due to weather. It could be the fact that I have recently uncovered an
intense desire to make a difference. To work to make a change and working
tirelessly toward such a goal is a tremendous thing and I encourage each of
you to pursue a like goal.
How about some more inspiration.

This Week in Bristol Indiana - 4-28-18: Pay It Forward Day. Saturday, April 28 is National Pay It Forward Day. BristolSun decided to celebrate the day by passing out tulips to Bristol businesses and those patronizing them on this special day. At Camille’s Floral and gifts got 32 tulips then set out to see how far those would go. Went first to Bristol Library - where 8 tulips were handed out and got 8 smiles and a hug in return. We thanked everyone for being in Bristol and asked them to put a smile on someone else’s face today. Next stopped at the Elkhart Co. Historical Museum, Evans Sidewalk Cafe, The Chicago Deli, The Red Bird, and finally on to Hardings Market to hand out the last 3 tulips. Just seeing the smiles on all the faces, knowing that they will pass it on, made the whole day brighter for all. Others in Bristol like Cathleen Beachy and friends like Penny Bucks and Whitney Pierli were preparing meals to share and doing more kind acts. Pay It Forward Day is a worldwide celebration of kindness every year on April 28th in which people are free to participate in their own way to inspire acts of kindness that will spread to continue throughout the entire year.

Journeys
An extensive project, which has continuous substance in my life, is Journeys. It is a subject that branches out in numerous directions and can incorporate an extensive range of ideas, focuses, and ways in which to tackle the subject. To brainstorm this subject, one would need a canvas of a colossal size. So I have pruned these branches in order for a condensed version. And frankly, I don’t want to write an essay about it, and you definitely don’t want to read it.
So I will introduce the first set:
Walkways
It’s probably a lot simpler if bullet point my thoughts and motivations for this set as it combines a variety of aspects fused together into a singular visual narrative. And this way I won’t babble on while trying to cleverly connect everything in an intelligent sounding short article/worded structure/arrangement
1. Firstly, this exhibits physical journeys one can take, but during this time, and through the scenarios listed below, one will naturally experience a journey of the mind and emotions as well.
2. I’m definitely not alone when I say I like to travel, explore, and go on an adventure. This represents that passion and showcases a few places I have ventured… whether it’s travelling abroad or just exploring a new way of getting to the train station.
3. You may notice there are a few photos of the same location (albeit at different time of the year). The path is the same, but for me, it’s always a different journey. Whenever I start any journey I am still heading into the unknown future. I also find that on these initially routine and somewhat mundane journeys, life can throw a surprise twist of direction… experience has told me that is usually due to the people you meet, and whose path crosses and sometimes becomes entwined with your own.
4. I have walked the same path as many, but of course our journeys vary, and sometimes immensely. Being witness to others’ journeys can bring perspective to my own. A mixture of sympathy, empathy, and envy can proceed to take place all from the same place.
5. Some of these locations exhibited are extremely famous, while others, while not as well known, are also filled with history and incidents that will never be forgotten. It’s humbling to be in that position where my journey easily transcends my physicality and journeys much deeper within. It brings a lot of thought and feeling into focus.
6. Simply: Every journey starts with that first step. This set portrays that step.
