The Graflex XLWA has a 47 f/8 Schneider Super-Angulon and a back which can take sheet film or a roll film holder. The lens is interchangeable but you must have the correct spacer to mount other lenses.
The Record III has a fixed 105 mm f/4.5 Agfa Solinar, a Tessar variant design and very sharp.
And the Horseman VH can have almost anything, from the 47 mm to about a 240 mm (depending on how close you need to focus) with roll film or sheet film.

Down there runs the Ripoll river, in Sabadell. In the cliffs of the eastern side began the history of my hometown, with the ancient name of Arraona.
Picture taken with a Kodak No.3A Autographic Special (model B) camera, made in 1921-1934; J. Lane Speed Plate dry plate, @25; developed with HC110 and scanned with an Epson V800.
For decades, probably more than 50 years ago, dry plate photography had gone almost completely into "old" history. It only seems that there was some limited and expensive production (Agfa?) for specialized scientific photography. The other option, very complex is to make the plates yourself, but better not to try. A couple of years ago, an American optical engineer, J. Lane, decided to sell the dry plates he had already made, with such success, that he has established the only (I believe) supplier of dry plates in the World. He produces them in many sizes, from minuscule 35mm format, to ultra-large formats, such as "full plate" or more. But these are his "speed" plates, rated at 25 ASA, so you can take your pictures handeheld.

Season of mists and mellow fruitfulness
Close bosom-friend of the maturing sun
Conspiring with him how to load and bless
With fruit the vines that round the thatch-eves run;
To bend with apples the moss'd cottage-trees,
And fill all fruit with ripeness to the core;
To swell the gourd, and plump the hazel shells
With a sweet kernel; to set budding more,
And still more, later flowers for the bees,
Until they think warm days will never cease,
For Summer has o'er-brimm'd their clammy cells. --To Autumn. by John Keats

This is the view when entering the store from Chestnut Street. A quite small apparel section to the right; Health and Beauty to the left; Starbucks and market/pantry straight ahead.
---------------
About 7 blocks away from the Chestnut West Target Flex is this second Target Flex. Both stores were opened within the last year. They fill a void left downtown since the Big Kmart (former Clover) closed in the Gallery Mall in 2014.
This 19,000 sq. ft. store is located all on one level and fits a CVS pharmacy, a Starbucks and the normal Target Flex departments--Market, Apparel, Health & Beauty, Home, Baby and Tech (electronics). Like all the Target Flex stores, "order pickup" is touted on the outside of the building.
This is my main DIY project for 2012:
A large format camera which supports both format 5x7 and 5x8! This is my first attempt in camera making. The way to the result will be long and tortuous! However, the camera must be finished before next September as I plan to take it with me during my next Antarctica trip (end 2012). This is quite challenging as I will be VERY busy this year
As you may know, 5x8 is not really a standardized format however cut sheet films are quite easy to get from 8x10 film sheets (just cut it in two pieces) I also find 5x8 being a nicer format for landscape photography.
It took me few months to design the Comète with a CAD software and I'm ready now to start the hard job!!!
As you can see, the overall design is quite inspired from the Chamonix cameras (which are designed more in a mechanical engineer way than a wood working way) however thinks are quite different when looked in details.
The back of the camera is designed to support both 5x7 standard film holder and 5x8 film holder (same dimension as the 5x7 fidelity film holder but with an extra inch). The only way I found to support both is to do a minor modification on the 5x7 film holder. The back can be easily rotated for portrait photography if necessary.
I have also made my own ground glass system. The ground glass can be smoothly lifted with the handle (thanks to miniature ball bearings), then the film holder can be inserted without any effort. When the handle is back to its original position, a spring push the ground glass frame against the film holder. This should minimize disturbance when changing of film holder.
The next home brewed feature is the two knobs system on the front board which allows tilting and shifting the lens board independently.
I don't plan to use long focal lenses (the three lens I have for this camera are a 110mm, a 200mm and a 300mm) however it is possible to screw the lens board a bit further on the sliding board (there are 3 position available). It would be quite easy to make an extension board which will fit on the sliding board but this will require longer bellows. Again, compromise...
The camera will weight around ~4kg.
Weight increases very quickly with the dimension of the camera. Including the 5x8 features is an extra 500g... The thickness of the different parts have not been really optimized due to my lack of experience in large format camera making. Sure it would have been possible to gain weight here and there by reducing the thickness and the dimensions of the parts, however as I plan to use this camera in harsh environment I 'm quite happy with a robust design.
Another option would have been to use composite material to reduce the overall weight but I don't know where to get such material here in New Zealand and I don't have any experience in such field to do the right choices.... The camera will be made of aluminum and wood.
I plan to make the camera during the next 6 months. It looks like I will spend a lot of time on my milling machine....
Please note that I use this flickr account (stormpetrel_geek_mode) only to show technical stuff which may bore my flickr contacts. My main flickr account can be found here StormPetrel1

First Goniochromatype ever.
Goniochromatype under 2 different angles of view
Goniochromatism (the Greek term gonio meaning angle and chroma meaning color) is a phenomenon as old as the world, it can be observed in nature in butterflies for example, mother of pearl and pearls are a good example too. We also speak of iridescence because according to the angle of observation and according to the light we will perceive different colors. Goniochromatic inks are used for the security printing of certain bank notes.
Despite my research on the web I have not found anything about the use of these properties in the field of alternative photography. I do not know if I "invented" a new kind of alternative photographic process, but it is neither more nor less of a kind of orotone with the variation of the use of pigments with goniochromatic properties quite simply. I decided to call the object I had just created "Goniochromatype".
I would really find it amazing that no one thought of it before me. Thank you for giving me information on this subject if you find some.
My way of proceeding was as follows: Medium-format film shooting (with a Pentax 6x7) on film XP2 ilford (development C41). Preparation of the glass plate that I coated with photosensitive gelatin "Rollei black magic". After a few days of drying, the plate was exposed under an enlarger, then development in trays. (conventional black and white process)
The plate once dry was then covered with a clear acrylic varnish on the emulsion, after which I applied an acrylic lacquer loaded with pigments with goniochromatic properties.
Thank you for your interest.
