Pennsylvania Railroad T1 #6111, one of the two 1942 prototypes built at Altoona, arrives at St Louis MO sometime in 1948 and will shortly make the backup move into Union Station whose grand train shed can be seen to the left above the Union Pacific Pullman cars in the background. This 6x6 negative was either mislabeled or was placed in a different negative's sleeve because the sleeve says this is T1 5536. The pointed nose gives this away as one of the two T1 prototypes built in 1942, the other being 6110. Both were identical and both went through the Pennsy's modified streamlining during 1946-47 when all the T1s had a "makeover" of their front ends including the addition of pilot steps however both the 6110 & 6111 retained their pointed noses throughout their short careers. A cropped in closeup of the keystone number plate revealed a "11" on the right side which helped out identifying this as the second prototype T1.

I am still learning to handle the large format. I am impressed by the fabulous quality 4x5 film has. And I am pleased to see that the work with the Intrepid is not half as complicated as I thought. It's just fun... The camera shown is my Rolleicord V b from the early 1960's.

Petit making-off de cette photo que j'aime particulièrement malgré un format portrait assez classique. Après une longue phase de rumination que j'observe à bonne distance depuis plusieurs minutes, ce grand mâle que je vais suivre durant plusieurs jours décide de se lever voyant son harem de femelles peu à peu lui échapper de vue. Je me décale lentement de mon poste tout comme lui qui s'approche lentement d'une femelle adulte tant convoitée, il passe pile entre la lumière et l'ombre et je me dis que cela peut donner une image qui sort du lot, je déclenche une rafale, 6 images sur 7 sont nettes, mais une attire mon attention, bingo avec la langue qui dépasse !! 😜
