Die Liebfrauenbuche befindet sich unweit der Kapellenruine St. Maria in Lichtenklingen zwischen Abtseinach und Siedelsbrunn im Odenwald. Dies ist vermutlich der Grund für ihren Namen. Sie besteht aus drei großen und zwei kleinen Stämmen und zeigt durch ihre Hanglage ein imposantes Wurzelwerk. Den Umfang des Stammes schätze ich auf vier Meter. Die Liebfrauenbuche gilt als Naturdenkmal.
The Liebfrauenbuche is located not far from the ruins of the St. Maria chapel in Lichtenklingen between Abtsteinach and Siedelsbrunn in the Odenwald. This is probably the reason for its name. It consists of three large and two small trunks and, due to its hillside location, has an impressive root system. I estimate the circumference of the trunk to be four meters. The Liebfrauenbuche is considered a natural monument.
We rarely have any snow in Brandenburg, but today I had a great forest experience, magical winter wonderland ....
A narrow forest path leads into a soft veil of morning fog on Sonoma Mountain. A lone maple ignites the scene with glowing yellow leaves, the trail, littered with autumn foliage — a brief moment of magic hidden deep in the woods.
Haareisbildung im Winterwald
Das Haareis besteht aus feinen Eisfäden, die sich bei geeigneten (meteorologischen) Bedingungen auf morschem und feuchtem Totholz (meist Äste) im Wald bilden können.

A once active road that leads down to the c. 1880 sawmill at Double Trouble State Park.
The sawmill was restored in 1995 but the path only sees foot traffic now, people going to see how saw mills operated and learn the history of this former company town.

A quiet, winding path leads up toward the Meeting House at Riverdale Farm in Toronto. The last of the autumn leaves glow in gold and orange, clinging to branches and gathering along the split-rail fence. The hillside is layered with colour, and the historic wood-sided building appears through the trees, almost hidden. One of those soft November moments when the city feels like a countryside retreat.

Unterwegs an der Kalmit, dem höchsten Berg im Pfälzerwald. Die berühmte Aussicht über die Oberrheinische Tiefebene wurde an dem Tag von tief ziehenden Wolken verschluckt. Wie als Trost brachte der Nieselregen die Farben des Herbstwaldes aber toll hervor.

A chestnut avenue in winter. Everything is lightly covered in snow, the trees are bare, and brown leaves still hang from some branches. A few sheep graze at the end of the avenue. Here, the tranquility and barrenness of January is evident.

Kastanienallee im Januar
Eine Kastanienallee im Winter. Alles ist leicht verschneit, die Bäume stehen kahl und an einigen Zweigen hängen noch braune Blätter. Am Ende der Allee grasen ein paar Schafe. Hier zeigt sich die Ruhe und Kargheit des Januars.
